It is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. As per Hindu mythology Lord Shiva slammed his jata here to let the godawari (Ganga of South) climb down. Marks of both Knees and jata of lord Shiva can be seen inside the temple. The pujari at the temple does a wonderful Abhishek and nicely explains the facts.
