Mettur Dam is a remarkable feat of engineering located in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, India. This dam is constructed across the River Kaveri, and it has been serving as a vital source of water and power for the surrounding areas since its inauguration in 1934.
The Mettur Dam is a beautiful sight to behold, with its massive walls rising up to a height of 214 feet and spanning over a length of 1,700 meters. The reservoir formed by the dam has a capacity of 93.4 billion cubic feet, which makes it one of the largest dams in India.
One of the most significant advantages of the Mettur Dam is that it provides water for irrigation to over 2 million acres of land in the region, which has contributed to the development of agriculture in the area. The dam also supplies hydroelectric power to various industries and homes in the surrounding areas.
Tourists can visit the dam and take a boat ride to explore the scenic surroundings, which include lush green hills, small islands, and tranquil backwaters. The dam also has a beautiful park where visitors can relax and enjoy the view.
The only downside of visiting the Mettur Dam is that the dam and its surroundings can get quite crowded during peak tourist seasons. However, if you visit during off-seasons, you can enjoy the serenity and natural beauty of the dam and its surroundings without the crowds. Overall, the Mettur Dam is a marvel of engineering and an essential resource for the people of Tamil Nadu. If you are interested in engineering feats and natural beauty, a visit to the Mettur Dam should be on your list of...

But me and my wife were left to climb on the stairs since the lift didn't work. I wouldn't have cared if I went free of cost. But even after collecting money they didn't care to offer service properly .. Irrigation dept or any other committee should...
