My Nivati beach visit was one of the most spectacular sea shore exploration ever. We just heard about this beach and started our trip without having much information which eventually ended up to be the most memorable one. About Nivati Beach: A picture perfect isolated virgin beach with hillocks in backdrop. Since very less people visit this place, it is the cleanest beach I have ever visited in west coast of India. The combination of white sand beach and waves through blue water has a mesmerizing effect altogether.
Things to do: Do we always need to go after watersports in every sea beach? No right? Nivati is just a place to relax and enjoy the sea. However there are few things one must try Early in the morning there is a possibility to see dolphins. Though I have not tried in Nivati, but in other shores I have seen dolphins and it’s a stunning feeling. Visit to the light house is must. I am not sure whether they still allow visitors at the top or not, but we got a chance to get down to the light house island. Its around 30 minutes boat ride from the shore. Don’t forget to ask the boat owner to take you around the island to see the whale nose point, where the water sprinkles out of a whole in rock due to tide and wave like it comes out of a Whale nose. The view from the light house and the island is breathtaking. While coming back from the island, ask the boatman to take a pitstop to the back water. He will take you to a place where the water would look like a natural pool, no wave, no depth, white sand beach and backdrop of coconut trees. We spent around couple of hours in the water there and still weren’t ready to come out There is a fort as well but I heard it’s not worth visiting, even we didn’t go. And the most important thing, spend a night at least there and do camp fire on the beach. I can sit on the shore with a cup of tea for the entire morning, the view is that good
Where to Stay: There are very less options, only two of them. Out of those two, we stayed in Hardika Beach Resort. Don’t get overexcited by the word resort, its just a basic home stay with very basic facilities. But we didn’t need anything more than that. The owner arranged all the food and boat rides for us. This particular resort is actually on the shore, so we had the white sand at our doorstep.
Food: One has to consume whatever the resort owner would prepare. Needless to say there is no food street around. But the homemade food was awesome and he prepared whatever we asked him. If you love non veg and then I would suggest always try fish and crab while visiting sea beaches instead of chicken and mutton. We actually got a full plate of fried crab at Rs 50 (way less than chicken and mutton). Do try Surmai and pomfret as well. You can pick which fish you want to eat in the morning while the fishermen come back from fishing.
How to reach: If you don’t want to stay in Nivati, then take a boat from Tarkarli and take a boat to Nivati. You can also reach by road. From Pune/Mumbai, try to google through NH 17. While in NH17, take a right turn from Kudal. The small road will take you to Nivati. There are small roads from malvan as well. You just need to ask and continue.
Special Tips: Though it spells like Nivati, but the way local people call it something...
Read moreUndoubtedly, one of the finest beaches of our western coast, Nivati sits comfortably nestled inside a marooned cove off the Devbag harbour. One might easily miss this mesmeric place if he / she is too caught up enjoying the rather mundane fun of watersports or the other under sea activities in the Sindhudurg area . Wanting to visit this place needs a itinerant's calling.. To become lost in time on this land so divine, is to me, this place's main catch phrase, atleast I found myself lost, of all my cares, in this patch of paradise when I went there initially,15 years ago, sailing away on a trolling fisher boat with some local folks . Now, I am sure Nivati, is no more as secluded as it was back then. The main features of this beach is ofcourse the seclusion that it affords you ; there are no water sports activities here; thank god, for that! The waters around the bay are shades of aquamarine green and blue depending on the time of the day . The ocean bed is visible even to depths of 15 to 20 feet, may be even more. But, the real stuff of dreams are the two golden rocks, one each on its farthest ends; two enormous, monolithic mass of stony outcrops, jutting out of the sea, staring in defiance omnipresent sky. you could climb to the summit of either ; see for yourself, beautiful vistas of the colour of the horizon , or the remnants of the old Nivati fort ( which during historical times served as a lookout post mainly for the mercantile trade route) , or see panoramic features of the devbagh island and its estuary. Nevertheless, you are sure to have a blithe of a time. I remember having spend entire afternoons there, on my own - watching dolphin acrobatics and gathering technicolour sea stones and shells on the shore , child like fancies them .. One has to go there to know what I am saying . Kille Nivati Beach...
Read moreNivati Beach is considered to be one of the most spectacular beaches in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. This clean and serene beach is mostly unexplored. The exotic beach is naturally ornamented with sparkling blue of water of the sea, magnificent golden sand and the lush green surrounding. Nivati Beach is also referred to as a secret beach as it is untouched and unexplored. To spend some quality time with friends and family, this beach can be a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the crowded places.
The secluded atmosphere helps to get out of the stressful life. The beach remains deserted most of the time. The famous fishing villages of Kochra and Bhogve are near the Nivati Beach. Fishes like Indian mackerel and ribbonfish are widely available in this area. A natural rock cut formation can be seen at the beach. Among other attractions of Nivati Beach, the dolphin ride is a prominent one. Boats are available to take the interested persons to sight dolphins which are easily seen from Nivati beach. Local fishermen also take on the ride if asked at a reasonable price.
Nivati fort is in close proximity of the beach. The fort is completely in ruins but the view of the surrounding from the site is breathtaking. The cruise ride on the 5kms long backwater in Nivati can be an amazing experience. Beautiful views of a small tropical oasis on the shores of Kochara village near the beach can also be witnessed. Other nearby places from the Nivati Beach are Sarjakot fort, Sagareshwar temple...
