The goddess Maa Maninaga Temple is located in Ranapur town and at the top of the Maninag hill. Ranapur Gada is located at a distance of 28 km from Nayagarh Town. The goddess Mani Nageshwari is worshipped in the Maninag hills. There are also Tala Maninag and Upar Maninaga Peetha on this hill. The temple was built by Lord Uddhav Singh 1328-1364 AD. The Ranapur Hill is Very Popular among the hills of Odisha. Mahashivratri, Navratra, Shri Ram Nabami and Syamakali Puja are the main festival of this temple, on that day many devotees come here to celebrate this festival. The Tala Maninag temple is located at the foot of the Ranpur hills. Ranpur distance from Mani Nageswari temple is only 3 km. Raj- Ranpur Hill Station is a tourist attraction places in Nayagarh, Odisha

Splendid a place on the hill top which gives a bird's eye view of the surrounding plain and Ranpur town/Royal Palace/Sri Jagannath Temple. Chilika Lake too is visible from this hill top. Cool place which is worth visiting. Also please go through this intresting historical mythology of Maa Nageshwar Temple. I'm sure you will love to know intresting details about Maa Mani Nageshwar. Although blacktop Road to the top is available but please avoid driving to the hill top since roads are too steep and with dangerous curves. Take a cab available at the base of the hill. It's worth the cost charged.

The temple in the foothills is at renovation stage, so not much to see. But if one is up for the adventure, should take trip to the hill top where the original deity resides. The road is a steep ride with some real dangerous curves. 2 wheelers might be easier but unless one is confident should not attempt the drive in the later. But there are professional vehicles for hire at ₹500/- and professional drivers (to drive up in your own vehicle) at ₹200/- available. Worth the trip if you have time and a bit of adventurous streak in you.

Upper Maninaga Temple Ranpur Nayagarh

Upper Maninaga Temple Ranpur Nayagarh

BY SATYAJIT MOHANTA05 APR 2021

Maninag temples of Ranpur in nayagarh district of odisha are present at a distance of 82 kms from the state capital bhubaneswar.

The thrills of bike ride through toghtghat roads to peak of the maninag hills, greeneries of the surrounding, fresh air and the scenic views are the major attractions here which is now attracting hundreds of tourists after new road construction.

Raja festival is major festival here when a mela is organized. Other near by attractions are Ranpur's jagganath temple, erst while king's palace, Asurakumari temple & falls, Tala maninag temple etc.

Though the roads are better now, i still find it tricky for big cars in some sections. Road is also getting washed up in patches. And don't forget to search by Upper Maninaga temple, other wise google map may lead you to other maninag...

I visited the holy place as an excursion cum picnic party was arranged by Khandagiri Barista Nagarika Sangha (KBNS) on 17th January 2024 and sharing my experience.Soon after arriving at Lower Maa Maninaga Temple our party got into the mini Maruti vans to reach the hill top Maa Maninaga Temple for worshipping Goddess and seek her blessings. Maa Maninaga is a fearsome incarnation of Goddesses Durga and is considered as a shakti Peeth.Temple surrounding is calm and quite, the temple is built at the peak which is about 2000 ft high from Lower Maninaga Temple. Since last 5 years tar roads have been built for smooth vehicular movement and for this mini vehicles are ferring visitors between Lower Maninaga temple to top Maninaga Temple. Charges for to and fro transportation is Rs. 120/ per head. The panoramic view of Ranpur town is beautiful from temple peak. The annual festival is on Meena Sankranti in March and is celebrated for two long weeks. Due to communication difficulties, a new temple is constructed at the base of the hill and the deity is worshipped here.Kalyan mandap is available for various functions. Indian Oil Corporation has also donated a building to temple authority for facility...
