Renovated as part of the town's beautification drive during the Hockey World Cup, the Basanti Sarovar (or as locals know it, DAV Pokhri) is now a beautiful spot in the town. The water body which was earlier lying useless is now presentable and usable to the public as a picnic or hang out spot.
Entry fees are 20/- rupees per adult. Paddle and motor boating and decent rates are available inside. Plenty of free parking space available outside the premises.
There is much room for improvement. First being the water quality. The water, being stagnant, smells a lot. It is yet to be fully cleared of hyacinths and other plants at places. Lighting and seating could be improved and more structures or art can be added to increase the beauty of the place. The toilets for both men and women are so dirty and bad conditions that one can't use it, otherwise he/she is not in serious condition.
