Badal Mahal is Situated on one side of Gaibsagar, It is known for its distinct design. It was constructed in two stages. Maharawal Gopinath built Verandah and ground floor in the first stage. In second stage, Marahawal Punjraj (1609-1657AD) built verandah in front of ground floor, first floor and dome, apart from making some renovations in the construction done in the front stage. Badal Mahal is built using Dawra stone.There are one half ripe lotus each on all the three domes and three half ripe lotus on longest dome of Badal Mahal, which adds to the beauty of this palace.

Dungarpur was founded by the Maharawal Veer Singh Dev in 1258 AD and was the descendents of Sisodiya's of Mewar. Maharawal Gopi Nath who defeated the Gujrat Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1433 AD. He built this Badal Mahal's ground floor with veranda and its level roof is suported with decorated pillars. First floor and further decoration with three domes a significant example of Indo Mughal Architecture. Ground floor was also renovated. It was a Royal Summer Retreat and later was Royal guests house. Situated on the bank of Gaip Sagar Lake offers panoramic views with the cool breeze. Now it's a museum where the statues of the rulers, Swords, Musical instruments, weights, pictures, terracotta artefacts etc are displayed.

The palace was constructed by using Dawra Stones. The monument is constructed in two different stages. On one stage, Maharawal Gopinath built its verandah and ground floor whereas in second stage construction is done by Maharawal Punjraj (1609-1657 AD) where he made first floor, dome and veranda in ground floor with some renovation. All the three domes have half ripe lotus shaped designs on their tops and three half ripe lotus on the longest dome of Badal Mahal, making this palace more beautiful. Constructed with a motive to make a leisure home, Badal Mahal also used for staying of state guests. After some time this palace used as camping palace for the Chief of Army staff.
