STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS
What a horrendous tourist trap! Your tour operator might take you here unsolicited (as was the case with other reviewers), therefore, you may be led to believe that this is a hotspot for elephant rides. It's not. It's an overpriced, disgustingly dirty tourist trap. Do you imagine that you will be riding elephants near the majestic Amber Fort? Well, think again. Your "ride" is through a dirty, rundown village with zero connection to Amber Fort.
The tour operators clearly get a kickback from funneling their customers to this place. Note that a lot of the 5-star reviews come from "Local Guides". Of course you're going to give this damn place a 5-star review if you're getting a healthy kickback in bringing your clients here!
My word is the pricing ridiculous for what you get (the prices are all over the place, by the way, and it's cash only). For a 15-minute "ride" he starts off at 3,500 inr for 2 people in each elephant. Then shows you a price list that has a different (higher) price so it seems like you're getting a good "deal*. A reviewer a week ago said they paid 2000 inr for 2 people on a single elephant (to which the owner responsed saying "price may seem high..."). Yes, the owner is acknowledging (to another Google reviewer) that 2,000 inr is high, YET starts off by telling me the price is 3,500 inr!
An advance response to whatever BS response the owner/management will post to my review. You do NOT take concerns seriously. You do NOT wish to provide a unique/memorable experience. All you care about is squeezing as much hard-earned cash out of your visitors. You are a truly sleazy and unethical organization. Your responses to low-rated reviews are fooling no one. I'm sure the influx of naive tourists will continue (for now). But believe me, the word WILL eventually spread (I'll do my best to spread that word on as many popular tourist websites as possible because the general public needs to know).
I REPEAT - STAY AWAY AT...
Read moreWe got quite a glowing recommendation about this place from our auto driver whom.we had hired for sight seeing. We were told that we get an elephant ride in the nearby jungle. Its quite far off & once we were inside a guy who looked like their representative took us through the packages. Ride costs Rs 1800 for 2 people on one elephant. A banana feeding costs Rs 800 per person including the charge of 5 kg banana on the house. We negotiated a bit..rs 1500 ride for 2 people, while we were told is at 1300. The ride is barely anything. Just a,slow ride to the village barely 400 metres or 500. No jungle nothing. Its concrete road, dirt all around, all you see is garbage let alone a view. As far as i see, the ride is not worth the money. A photographer will forcefully click you once you sit on the elephant & while he says its ur wish to purchase the photo or not but later will be after you to buy. The photo wasn't even good. The photographer kept on coming after is even after we sat in the auto. Initially he asked for rs 300 for one photo then came down to Rs 100. There were 4 female elephants in all. We did get to feed hay fo the elephants without any charge & click some photos. The guy who took us for the ride also manages the elephants feeding & wash gets a meagre salary per month. You may tip him as per your choice. All in all not worth it. But if one is really fond of rides then they can. Dont...
Read moreScam - be careful of being ripped off. Our driver took us here unsolicited. He suggested we visit an “elephant village” on our day off and asked us to keep it a secret from the travel company. We asked him about elephant sanctuary options we had then read about but he pretended there was only one to visit. We should have gone with our instincts that we were being taken for a ride, but we had spent almost a week with our driver and hoped to trust him. We were completely ripped off. We payed: 12,500 INR for a ONE person elephant ride, a feeding and a two minute “walk” with elephant. Very dodgy non- transparent pricing. Now also worried that per other reviews the riding harmful for elephants and not the sanctuary we thought we were visiting. If the business sees this: We would really welcome a break down of the pricing of 12,500 INR (we have the credit charge if you want to get in touch). To top it off, we were followed and harassed on way back to car to buy the photos they took without asking us.
Edited after ele jungle response: how do I get in touch at [contact details] ? What a joke. If you really want to be transparent and non scammy, why don’t you post the pricing of these activities here? 3 you are clearly in collusion with the drivers. How would it work if they were operating without your endorsement? We payed...
