A narrow road leading to Lake Palace Hotel Siliserh where you will find a lot of monkeys, rash local drivers and beware of the ones on two wheelers. They seem to think of themselves as stuntmen. The road can't accommodate two cars passing at a time so both the cars have to slow down a little and give way to each other by pulling a little off the road.
From where Lake Palace Hotel Siliserh boundary starts, they have a check point wherein they charge Rs 100 per head. So 4 people in the car will mean Rs 400. As you move towards the palace you will have the lake on your right hand side and i felt that's the best view you can have because its an empty road otherwise and unlike atop the hotel where you will have a lot of people making noise, this road is quiet with vehicles moving in and out occasionally. This is a hotel operated by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (R.T.D.C.).
As soon as you get in you will know that the place is in bad shape. After parking your car you move up to the restaurant through stairs. Yes, there are no lifts available since this is a palace we are talking about which must have been built way back. Now right in front of the restaurant there is seating. You can sit inside the restaurant as well but the USP of going there is the view itself. Booze is readily available here and I guess it was Kingfisher. Now that's a turn off cause you don't have a specific people for people who wish to drink. They can take their drinks and have it anywhere in the restaurant vicinity. Given that there were a lot of families coming in with kids, i think a specific area should be allotted to them. Items are by default being sold at a higher rate. I took a cold drink which was given to me at Rs 20 extra from the MRP. Bills are not provided and yes outside food isn't allowed.
The view in front of you would obviously be pristine with the lake and mountains surrounding it in all directions but according to me you would spend a total of 2 hour here at max. The thing is that its the same thing and you get bored eventually. May be if you are a group of friends then you can stick around for a while.
It goes without saying that service is substandard. People flocking in looked from not so good a gentry. Locals were more in number in comparison to the ones from out of town. Hygiene was not maintained. In Covid times no masks were being worn by the staff members or the visitors either. No hand sanitizers or temperature checks were done whatsoever. Expect nothing special here. If that view is something you would love to see and you are ready to compensate on everything mentioned above then feel free to come here. I believe its too much of a hassle coming here cause the view looks nice in the start but then it becomes mundane. Boating is also available here. Rs 800 for 15 minutes is what the rate is if i am not wrong. For that you need to go down the hotel. Beyond a certain point you can't go if you dont want to do boating. Which means you can't see the lake closely until and unless you are ready to spend a few bucks.
All in all I will call it an average place. Nothing here would make you happy apart...
