Lake is one of the tourist spots on the way to Nathu La pass, and just like everything around it, is popular because of the breathtaking location it is situated in. Lake per se, is large but nothing to talk about. The water is clean but not clear. Boating isn't permitted.

Cable Car at lake (360/- charge, 3yr older) is worth its price in beauty and experience. The ride is about 5 min each way, and you can spend half an hour at the top taking pictures and soaking natural beauty. You can have tea/snacks at top (40/- tea, on the expensive side). The cafe at the bottom has a limited vegetarian menu with not so exorbitant prices.

Pictures with the backdrop of the lake give you the most poster worthy pictures in our whole East Sikkim trip.

There is an option for Yak rides around the lake but we found prices exorbitant. About 1200/- for a 10min trip seems expensive even from tourist...

Visited the place in mid of the March. The lake was still frozen. The place is having its own serenity, I am sure that cent percent people thinks the same way. I recommend few things before going like these high altitude places: Keep High performance winter clothes and boots, though boots and jackets are available on rent but those are sometimes torn or untidy. Avoid smoking totally. Don't walk fast or run at high altitudes. Slow and steady will make you more comfortable in order to combat low oxygen situation. Children might show mild symptoms of high altitude sickness. Take good care of them. Keep handy oxygen tin with you if you are traveling with kids and older people. Try to eat easily digestible foods while visiting high altitude. Keep water (esp. luke warm ) to avoid...

It's lovely place to visit, I have visited Tsangu Lake in month of November when winter is all set to step in. The lake is perfect destination for tourists on their way to Nathula. Mountains over the lake started getting snow. Lush green mountains are getting milky white colors. In deep winters the lake will change the state of liquid to hard and cold ice. Watching the beginning of this transformation I.e. transformation of one state of substance to another state is literally a feast to the eyes. You can see the yalk grazing around on mountains to make more powder to fight against rough winter's ahead. The serenity you captured in your eyes will remain forever in your heart.

It is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim and also known as Changu Lake. It was entirely frozen when we went to this lake in February 2019. Soft mists were all over the place. You can take yak and mules ride where kiosks offer variety of food and drinks. Noodles and thick soup are the best to eat. One can take a ropeway over the lake. It is essential for all tourists to obtain permits while visiting. The lake can be reached by hiring a government-approved taxi service that can also help you obtain the relevant permits required to visit this area. The lake is open all year round but May to October is the perfect time to go. Wear proper shoes and warm clothes. Restroom is available. Children under 5 are not recommended.
