Bhoomeeshwarar Temple-Marakanam — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

After having a wonderful darshan in Sri Venkaateeswarar temple - madhurantakam, we started to drive towards this temple.

Uffff what a drive it was. memorable, simply beautiful. it is a single road, state highway but the traffic was kind of less, and almost straight for about 27 kms and it was full of greenery and shaded. Would definitely rate this road as one of the best roads i have driven.

Coming back, we reached the temple. temple bang on the main road.

Temple is more than 1000 years old as per the inscriptions found in the temple. Temple faces east. no rajagopuram. kodimaram present. Lord Sri Bhoomeeshwarar faces east but the enterance to the prayer hall is via the south. Ambal Girijambigai faces east but from a separate enclosure on the left side of the lord. There is only one praharam inside the temple.

Renovation work going and also the temple was full of water due to rain.

Had a good darshan. said our prayers. could not focus much as going in and coming out was much of a hassle.

Definitely a must visit temple, if you are travelling in the ecr route.

Before we close our small review, want to quote a thevaram song sung by sundaramurthy nayanar, where the sheer beautiful tamil language captures the beauty of lord shiva.

This temple is mainly worshiped for land related prblms.. I don't believe more on astrology.. Bt an astrologer asked me to go there for built a house. It's an dream for me morethan 10yrs bt when i plan to start sumthing happens to stop that.. Thn only i came to know this temple by an astrologer. I also searched more on google thn i decide to go, there also i saw an review that sumone also said that he's prblm solved after went to that temple after six mnths.. At March 2019 i went there.. U believe r not i started my house work at sep 2019.. Feel so...

Bhoomeeshwarar Temple, Marakkanam, Villupuram district.

Bhoomeeshwarar (Lord Shiva) Temple’s Presiding Deity is called as Bhoomeeshwarar and Mother is called as Girijambikai.

This ancient temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old.

Visited on Maha Sivarathri day on 11th March. Many devotees are stayed inside the temple. Prasadams are provided whole night. The people in and around villages are visiting this place during this auspicious day.
