Hotel Vasantha Bhavan — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Found a mosquito in my tea cup and some other insect in my friend's tea cup. Will add the photo. We informed this to the waiter and he replaced it saying he made sure he washed it and it's free of bugs. My question is.. why didn't they check before serving it to the customer. Was angry but didn't fight with the hotel staff and make it a big issue. Just wanted to bring it to our fellow Google readers' notice. Cleanliness is very important in restaurants as we blindly eat food from them thinking it is clean and safe to eat. What if, if some other reptile like lizard was found in the food? So, the kitchen needs pest control and should be well maintained. Hope others will not face this issue in the future. Otherwise, the hotel was spacious... has ample Car Parking for busses and cars... Toilets were available... There are other shops in the campus like Cotton Street and...

One of the decent restaurant in ECR stretch. Had morning breakfast here several times. Good food. Service can be better.

Update : Went for dinner on Friday night. They took 5 mins to come to take order. We ordered Ghee Onion Dosa and Sweet lime juice. Dosa was served within 3-5 mins. Juice was served in the next 2-3 mins. Dosa was good. Cocunut chutney was good. Sambar was also not bad. The highlight is they kept 2 chutneys, Podi , Chilly garlic Podi in the table. Podi and Chilly Garlic Podi are good. Liked garlic Podi very much. Chutneys were not fresh. They were cold. In addition to Chutney-podi, they brought a sambar in small Vaali and kept it. After I completed the food, they closed the chutney-podi bowl with a plate which is a good thing.

Toilet was smelly. But definitely not so bad like Government toilets.

During our journey from Pondy to Chennai, we stopped at this place for lunch with our kids and family. Arriving a bit late around 2:45 - 3 PM, despite the seemingly decent ambiance, we had an extremely disappointing food experience 😞. While I realize it was a bit late and the food supply was running low, serving food that is extremely cold is not acceptable. We ordered sambar rice for the kids, meals, and fried rice for the adults. The sambar rice arrived at -2°C, while the rest of the items were only at room temperature. The overall food quality fell well below average, and the service was quite poor with just one person managing all the tables and a few ladies serving food.
