2002 I ride to school in my bicycle, I see the lake daily and it is getting more polluted by date. The garbage pile next to Chitlapakkam school is growing leaps and bound every month. The only thing I love about the lake is Ayyappan temple, I go regularly, listen to bhajans, blissful feeling all the way back home. 2023 the only thing I love about the lake is gone, but everything has improved leaps and bounds, I still can be blissful visiting Gangai amman temple and as a bonus on good rainy days the pond next to it is full and now it also has park. In Ayyappan temple place now stands an open auditorium, I have not idea on how they are going to use it. The lake is so pleasing to watch at sunset, with two natural islands in the middle and long walkway, nothing short of well spent money. I still miss the temple, but this compromise is worth it.

சிட்லபாக்கம் ஏரியில் சில முறையற்ற நடவடிக்கைகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. இத்தகைய நடவடிக்கைகள் பற்றி புகார் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டிய அதிகாரிகள் விபரத்தை அவர்களது தொலை பேசி விபரத்துடன் தகவல் பலகையாக ஆங்காங்கே வைப்பது அவசியம். நீர் நிலை பாதுகாப்பு இன்றியமையாதது என்றாலும் உள்ளூர் பொதுமக்களுக்கு பல சமுதாய காரணங்களுக்காக நீர் நிலை பயன்பாடு (community rights) உரிமைகள் தொன்று தொட்டு இருந்து வருகிறது. இதை ஒரேயடியாக தடை செய்வது முடியாத நிலையில் சட்டங்களுக்கு உட்பட்டு தக்க வரைமுறைகள் நிர்ணயம் செய்து அவை முறையாக கடைபிடிக்க படுவதை கண்காணிக்கலாம். மேற்குப் பகுதியில் காவல் துறையினர் அடிக்கடி ரோந்து செல்லவேண்டிய கட்டாயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இது தவிர படிப்படியாக ஏரியின் மேற்கு மற்றும் தென் மேற்குப் பகுதிகள் மேய்ச்சல் நிலங்களாக மாறி வருகின்றன. இது தவிர ஏரியின் கிழக்கு மற்றும் வடக்குப் பகுதியிலும் மாடுகள் சுதந்திரமாக உலாவி வருகின்றன. மனித உயிர் சேதம் ஏற்படும் முன்னர் இதை வரை முறை செய்வது நல்லது. சமீப காலமாக மேற்குப் பகுதிகளில் பன்றிகளின் ஆதிக்கமும் பெருகி வருகிறது. வனத்துறையினர் நட்டுக் கொடுத்த மரக் கன்றுகள் முறையாக தண்ணீர் விட்டு பராமரிக்க வேண்டும். பொழுது போக்கு அமைப்புக்கள் உள்ள இடங்களிலும் கிழக்கு பகுதி நுழை வாயிலிலும் மின் விளக்குகள் இல்லை. கவுன்சிலர் அமைத்துக் கொடுத்த இரண்டு விளக்குகள் மட்டுமே உபயோகத்தில் இருக்கின்றன. மேற்கு பகுதியில் உள்ள சாக்கடை உடனடியாக சுத்தப்படுத்தப்பட்டு மேற்கொண்டு கழிவுகள் சேராமல் பாதுகாக்கப்பட வேண்டும். கிட்டத்தட்ட இறந்து போன நிலையில் இருந்த இந்த நீர் நிலை பல்வேறு தரப்பினர் மேற்கொண்ட தன்னலமற்ற போராட்டங்கள் மற்றும் நீதி மன்ற நடவடிக்கைகள் காரணமாக தற்போது அழகாக புத்துயிர் பெற்றுள்ளது. ஆனால் இந்த சூழ் நிலையில் இந்த சாக்கடை அசிங்கங்கள் கண்டு கொள்ளாமல் விடுவது எந்த வகையிலும் நியாயமில்லை. நீர் நிலை மேம்படுத்த இன்னும் நடவடிக்கைகள் தேவை என்றாலும் இதுவரை செய்யப்பட்ட மேம்பாட்டுப் பணிகள் உபயோகம் இல்லாது போகும் நிலை ஏற்படாமல் காப்பது அனைவரின் கடமையாகும். நீர் வளத்துறை அலுவலர்கள் காவல், வனம், மின் துறை, நகராட்சி நிர்வாகம், மாசு கட்டுப்பாட்டு வாரியம் மற்றும் தன்னார்வ குழுக்களுடன் ஒன்றிணைந்து நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பது அவசியம். பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்தும் மக்கள் வருகை அதிகரிக்கும் நிலையில் தேவையான ஒரு சில இடங்களிலாவது கண்காணிப்பு கேமராக்கள் பொருத்துவது கட்டாயமாகும்.

One of the best lakes in Chennai is properly maintained. Whether you're a walker, a runner, a nature lover, a kid looking for a place to play, or a teen wanting to chat with friends, it's the ideal spot for everyone. I'm genuinely surprised by the volunteers who care for every tree around the lake. Additionally, some extension works are in progress, and once completed, it will be a gem in this area. Go and enjoy the fresh air and nature.

This is just a part of the view.. the whole lake looks so beautiful and nice.. it contains birds, fishes and lotuses in it.. near the tree u can see squirrels and lots of crows.. there's an amphitheatre beside the lake.. every Saturday from 6-9am book readers gather and read books. Many people come to the lake for walking around the lake

Nice place for an evening walk. There is a small walking trail around the lake. 2 wheelers can be parked nearby the lake. There is no space for car parking. The lake can be maintained properly. But it is not advisable to go there without elders. Proper garbage disposal system should be followed. Restrooms are not available.

Awesome place to spend the evening with family.. Nice and cleaned path way for walking. 1 kms of walking path way with night lights.. upto 9pm . Surrounded by many shops like vegetable shops, super markets, sweet shop , fruits shop, hospital , tea shop , atho shop and parking feasibility.
