Wonderful place to spend in yelagiri. We had a very good time here for about 2+hrs.
Entry tickets have multiple options, base ticket price is ₹300 per adult and ₹200 for kids. This ticket gives entry and access to pet houses, no activities, ( toy train, net cricket and 7d cinema), which I wouldn't recommend. Most of the time goes in for the pet house itself.
The first thing to encounter is the small overhead aquarium, which is good. After that are the rats, snakes, frogs. There are descriptions for each section.
Next pets are the rabbits, the staff there helps in holding and feeding them. Kids will enjoy playing with rabbits. Small and big mix of rabbits with different colours.
The cat house was crazy, with many fluffy cats around. The staff locked the door and were in discussion with another staff member 😊
The ostrich can be fed with the help of thatha ( old person). The punganoor cows are my favourite, the male one was naughty and the female was friendly.
Ducklings and chicks can be fed. Thanks to Suresh for helping and assisting.
Huskies were a little scary, but the staff encouraged and joined us to play with Huskies for a while. The pets were very friendly.
After all this excitement we entered the birds park. This has a variety of parrots. Staff are really helpful in giving suggestions to hold, feed and play with parrots. Three sections of parrots ranging from smaller to macaws.
The pet crew handed us some sunflower seeds which are the favourite for macaw and it comes to you once you show the seeds to them. We spent 30 mins in this section as there was no crowd and staff cooperation was excellent.
Strongly suggest visiting on weekdays to have quality time with great fun and memories.
The place has a small restaurant serving icecream, cookies, muffins, cakes etc.
A small gift shop that had expensive gifts. We took the fridge magnet of fundera.
Initially I was planning to visit cloud park, but many suggested fundera, so changed plans at the last minute. I think there would not be any difference in both the places. It's your personal...
Read moreMust visit petting zoo in Yelagiri. There is so much to do here and there is a good variety of animals to interact with and observe. Be kind to the animals and have fun.
The bird walk is the highlight here and the birds feeding off your hand is such an unforgettable memory. All the birds I have only seen in books and documentaries were suddenly right before my eyes. Sun conures, African grey parrots, Pink and grey Cockatoo, Sulphur crested Cockatoo, Blue and gold macaw, Toucan amongst various others fly around. Other birds to see here include various types of chickens and pigeons of which there were many varieties. The famous Kadaknath Chicken and the Indian Fantail pigeon were here on display. Ostrich was fascinating to see in person...such curiously large birds.
Amongst the animals there are many reptiles such as iguana, others such as rabbits, gerbils, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, goats, horses and donkeys. My favourite amongst all these were watching the gerbils bounce around and the mice sleep. It's a good feeling when you recognise the creature without looking at the sign which mentions the name.
The petting part was perhaps the most unique experience I have had in a while. There were chicks dyed in brilliant colours which had been imprinting on the human hand I believe. All you need to do is place your hand in the enclosure and you can hold perhaps 5-6 in both palms. Ducks didn't like getting petted much and same for the Guinea pigs but you could pet them all the same. The rabbits were pretty much done for the day and mostly slept around even if you placed grass right in their faces.
Some of the kids are really annoying in this place and the staff needs to be a bit more proactive in ensuring people behave according to me although it didn't bother me particularly. There are more things to do apart from just the animals and I'd recommend taking your kid here and getting all the boxes ticked from this place. Great learning experience for...
