An immensely pleasing journey and a wonderful experience. It was a great opportunity to learn about the lifestyle and method of living of our ancestral kings and queens👑 The fort was built to provide fortification in times of war and enemy invasion. The technology used for that purpose can be seen in the modern century too. Our ancestors were very forward in that manner. The monumental structures were very beautiful with intricate designs depicting dance forms, tales, yoga poses, etc. Certain structures were specially built for specific purposes for example, the Kalyan Mahal ( 8 floor) , seemingly the place where the Desingh Raja was married to his queen, had a raised platform which could be viewed by spectators, alliances and wellwishers of the royal family. It also had rooms possibly where preparations could be made or where guests could stay. It also had a water system which was a great technological achievement💪 Another structure, the granary was built to store grains so that it could be used in times of shortage. It had several rooms with openings/windows to pour the grains and pulses and is said to be the most valuable place in the location. More attractions include Elephant tank, gymnasium hall. You can climb approx 2000 steps uphill to reach Rajagiri which takes around 2 hrs. Booking tickets(₹20 per head) is available only online upto 7 days before visit or on the monument site from 9 to 3 pm. The government officials on duty help you to book tickets through...

Guys...this is the best really one of the big fort in tamilnadu. If you have interest in climbing/history scenes/travelling definitely you should visit atleast once. You can find all the things/places how rajas before have lived. Very well maintained. If you full day here to see all things in and around this fort you have park with Shiva temple at the start, then small fort, then lower park ground with kalyana Mandapam, elephant tank etc....atlast climbing the fort to the top. You will get the fantastic look from the top definitely.Unfortunately I couldn't climb to the top due to time constraints,I came here around 2:30pm only. So it will be very difficult to go upand come down. So I will suggest to reach here 10 in the morning. If you able to see both rajagiri and krishna giri fort in one day, you can appreciate yourself.Importantly you are not allowed to climb the fort after 3pm, it is displayed there.Definitely I will visit again one day to complete the rajagiri fort to go top. Now I will post the photos what I able to take. Take plenty of water and snacks as you don't get anything here.Auto is available at the junction of road to reach fort. Visit with your family and enjoy...

It's one of the beautiful places in Tamil Nadu, which many people are ignorant of. The fort: It's a must visit place for the people who love to see old buildings and forts. Reaching the top most part of the fort involves a good trek. You ought to have little stamina for it. The view is beautiful. Best time to visit: It's better to pay your visit in the months of November- January. Even though it's little sunny, you won't feel much of heat during this period of the year.

Facilities: Not many tourists come to this place and therefore, there are no much shops around. There are restrooms outside the entry, but it wasn't open in the morning.

Please don't forget to carry enough water with you and some light food. Planning to have lunch there doesn't seem to me to be a great idea for there are a lot of monkeys around. Do take a cap along for it's gonna be quite sunny. Walking with an umbrella would not be practical.

Ticket: For Indians, the tickets are priced very low. One ticket is enough to visit the surrounding tourist spots (the other buildings...

Visited this place on 27th July 2024. Reached the place at around 8.40 am by bus from Chennai. Reach to kilambakam and get bus no 122 to reach Senji bus stop or bus depo. From there get an auto (they will demand 50 rupees, ask to leave near the ticket counter or if in entrance negotiate for 30-40 rs.). The entrance ticket costs 25 Rs. Get atleast 2 litres of water and some snacks to reach the top. There are several stop points relax and walk up. It is better to reach the top before 10.30 or 11 am. Approx it will take 1 h 30 min to 2 h. Get back to the base by 12 pm and visit the garden and other places down. Reach back to the gingee center in an auto by 1.30 pm to reach back by 5 pm to chennai (kilambakam/tambaram/adyar - check the bus arrival with the conductor and board). A special thanks to the staff in Gingee fort. He saw me walking to the centre from Gingee fort and offered help by dropping me in the bus depot as he was going that way to have lunch. Thanks to him!!!
