It is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, and is present on the same campus in which the ancestral home of the Prime Minister is. Built in 1979, it is managed by Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, having its headquarters at Teen MurtiBhavan, New Delhi. The planetarium is surrounded by lush green lawns and is a massive structure with a dome shaped roof, which leaves you spell bound with its architectural beauty.
If you have children with you, it is one of the must places that you must visit, and the kids are going to love the visit and cherish it for a long time. The interior of the planetarium is dimly lit and the ceiling is hemispherical resembling a sky. It has a capacity to seat 80 people and once the seats are filled, the show starts. When you look at the ceiling, you feel like you are sitting under the sky and looking above, watching the stars and the moon.

Planetarium is the prime source of attraction, where you can get knowledge about your universe. Actually this planetarium is situated inside the Anand Bhawan complex which consists of Planetarium,museum,Anand Bhawan and Swaraj Bhawan. Museum consists of many assets used by Nehru ji, Indira ji and his family. I enjoyed this place along with my kids. Parking facility is not available, you can park outside at your own risk. Projector used in the Planetarium display has become outdated as contrast is very dull. It need urgent upgradation. Canteen and refreshment shop is not present inside the premises but variety of options are available just outside the Anand Bhawan. There are three entrance but only two of them are operational. Photography is prohibited at some locations inside the premises. You can click at most of the places inside the Anand Bhawan/Planetarium.
