According to the mythology this is the place from where Mamaji kans the ruler of mathura around 5400 years ago ruled. Also there are some other opinions that from this place he directed his friend demons to invade gokula and nandgaon in order to bring lord krishna. Today it is a abandoned place with no proper maintenance ruining day by day. Although I must consider the concept of building fortification was impeccable results still stands today. Pilgrims visit this place to only experience the bank of river Yamuna as well as the atmosphere. Also the austerity place of sage Durbasa located just opposite of river bank which is also visible from this place. At last,this is a good place to visit with kids. The pleasant atmosphere at the river bank is heart-melting, birds chirping are attracting and the overall view from the quila is worth-experiencing.

मथुरा में कंस किला पर्यटकों के आकर्षण का केंद्र है, जिसके बारे में माना जाता है कि यह भगवान कृष्ण के मामा कंस का किला है। इसलिए, यह 7वीं शताब्दी ईसा पूर्व में महान महाकाव्य महाभारत की अवधि से जुड़ा हुआ है। कंस किला मथुरा में कृष्ण गंगा घाट और गौ घाट के पास स्थित है। यह किला (किला) एक बड़े क्षेत्र में बनाया गया था, जिसे एक लंबी दीवार से घेरा गया था। सदियों से, किला बर्बाद हो गया और 16वीं शताब्दी में, इसे अंबर के राजा मान सिंह ने पुनर्निर्मित किया, जो मुगल सम्राट अकबर के सेनापति थे। किले की वास्तुकला हिंदू और मुस्लिम वास्तुकला का मिश्रण है। बाद में, जयपुर के महाराजा सवाई जय सिंह द्वारा एक वेधशाला बनाई गई थी, जो एक प्रसिद्ध ज्योतिषी भी थे, लेकिन आज यह मौजूद नहीं है। पुराने समय में, कंस किला को यमुना नदी में बाढ़ के खिलाफ मथुरा के लोगों की रक्षा करने वाला एक उद्धारकर्ता माना जाता था क्योंकि यह नदी के उत्तरी तट पर स्थित है। दर्शकों का पुराना हॉल एक आश्चर्यजनक और उल्लेखनीय इमारत है और इसे तीन गलियारों में विभाजित किया गया था। यह हॉल किले के बाहर स्थित है और लाल रंग के पत्थर के खंभों से बना है। विद्रोह से पहले किले को सरकारी ठेकेदार को बेच दिया गया था, जिसने इसमें मौजूद सामग्री के लिए इसे नष्ट कर दिया। विद्रोह के बाद, इसे एक स्कूल में बदल दिया गया और इसकी सुंदरता और वास्तुकला को तब के शासकों ने मिट्टी की दीवार से ढककर बर्बाद कर दिया। आज, कोई भी व्यक्ति इसके अनुचित रखरखाव के कारण केवल जीर्ण-शीर्ण किले को ही देख सकता है। इसे मथुरा का पुराना किला या पुराना किला भी कहा जाता है। मथुरा में कंस किले का समय और शुल्क किला सभी दिनों में सुबह 8 बजे से शाम 4.30 बजे तक (सार्वजनिक छुट्टियों सहित) खुला रहता है। प्रवेश शुल्क लिया जाता है और पालतू जानवरों को किले के अंदर जाने की अनुमति नहीं है। घूमने के लिए सबसे अच्छा मौसम अक्टूबर से मार्च तक का है, जब मौसम सुहाना होता है। चूँकि किला खंडहर अवस्था में है, इसलिए कोई वहाँ नहीं रुक सकता है, इसलिए आप मथुरा में अपने बजट के हिसाब से किसी भी होटल में रुक सकते हैं और बस या ऑटो रिक्शा या तांगे से इस जगह पर जा सकते हैं। मथुरा में कंस किले के पास आपको वासुदेव घाट, ब्रह्मा घाट, वैकुंठ घाट और असीकुंड और मणिकर्णिका घाट जैसे अन्य प्रसिद्ध घाट भी मिलेंगे। इसलिए जब आप कंस किले की यात्रा करें तो इन्हें देखना न भूलें।

Kans Quila, which is named after the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna. The fort dates back to the time of Mahabharata and was later restored in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh of Amber. Situated on the northern banks of the Yamuna River, the fort is an attractive amalgam of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles. It is believed that Kans Quila played the saviour for the people of Mathura when it was hit by deadly floods in the Yamuna. Now in ruins, Kans Quila is also known by the names of Old Fort or Purana Quila of Mathura. Located close to the fort are some famous ghats, including Vasudev Ghat and Brahma Ghat. So do not miss out on exploring this years-old fort when in Mathura.

This is believed to be the residence of King Kansa, maternal uncle of Sri Krishna, who tried to kill him several times. The fort, therefore is believed to be 5500 years old, but history indicates that it was destroyed & rebuilt several times. Raja Man Singh was also believed ti have constructed an observatory Jantar Mantar, there but it has since been destroyed. For a fort of such provenance, it is overrun by monkeys and one has to risk the loss of spectacles, mobiles, handbags etc to visit the fort. The entrance itself is in total shambles and very few risk going there.

The so called kans qila is mostly a mythical place ascribed to this fort, this being built by Raja Man Singh of Amer in 17th century. Mostly Mughal architecture. Government should maintain this old fort as it is the only one in Mathura. An observatory is said to have been added in the complex by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh (1699–1743), however it has been demolished now. The fort has an audience hall surrounded by red sandstone pillars. The fort was earlier used as a barrier against floods.

On the banks of river Yamuna, this fort is built over a large area and has highly fortified walls. Now there is ruins only.The structure reflects a beautiful Hindu architectural styles and destruction caused by Mughals. This is because the fort passed through several hands during its journey. It is said that Raja Man Singh of Amber renovated the fort in the 16th century while Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur built an observatory there. However, there is no sign of the observatory now.

Kans Quila is a fortified castle located in Mathura, India. The fort is named after "Kansa", a king who lived around 6th century BC, in the ancient city of Mathura, India. Kansa was the maternal uncle of Krishna, a Hindu deity. The fort is believed to be from the age of Mahabharata, about 6th century BC.
