Better known locally as Buddha Temple Clementown. It's excellent for any traveler visiting Dehradun.

Situated on Dehradun's periphery on roorkee highway. It is large majestic and very well build both aesthetically and structurally.

Visitors must know that there are actually three locations inside the complex two temples in which entry is allowed only during certain times and another this very big buddha stupa for which this place is popular as.

As all tibbetian things are this is jo hassle free serene experience. Regulars visit this place for the calm it brings and to take a dash of being close to nature every now and then. Located in the MohabewalaIn area of Clement Town, Dehradhun is a clean well maintained Tibetan religious place. It is an area of several acres that includes a large Buddhist Temple and college called “Nyingma” and a Tibetan Monastery known as the “Mindrolling Monastery”. Nearby there are gift shops, restaurants and a book shop selling books mostly in Tibetan language but there are also some interesting books in English and other languages. The books are intended in the main for purchase by the large Tibetan community of students and Lamas that surround the temple and spend time there studying and following their belief. There are also several other shrines and statues in the surrounding area including a giant Buddha but the focal point is the large white Buddha temple which was built in 1965. It was named “Nyingma” as it was built to represent one of the four religious schools of Buddhism. Surrounded by lawns and gardens where students sit and picnic or meditate it is a beautiful sight with plenty of ornate gold leaf paintings decorating it. The interior of the temple is only open to the public on Sundays but if you choose to go on that day you can climb the stairs though the many levels with their ornate decorations to reach the viewing platform near at the top of the building from where you can get a panoramic view of city Dehradun. The whole atmosphere of this place felt spiritual and calming, Buddhism is a gentle religion and I certainly left there with a feeling of quiet harmony. I have lived in this place (Dehradun) for all of my childhood. I have been to the Tibetan temple many number of times and have always found it soothing, relaxing and mind calming.

It is a must visit in Dehradun. Please spend some time in the park in the temple nearby and when you climb the stairs of the big Stupa enjoy the wind against your face and the views of the surrounding forests. This is a truly awesome place to visit. It will blow your mind still your Heart and fill your life with trancendant vibrations bringing you good fortune now and in the hereafter. The Dalai Lama has said that even to hear about this extraordinary place means that one will avoid a lower rebirth. It is mind blowing in many ways the workmanship is epic the art is detailed and colourful in the extreme and it all points in one direction..within. A huge statue of Guru Rinpoche is also there the whole place is..well just go there and be quiet for a bit see...

I recently visited the Buddha Temple in Clement Town, Dehradun, and it was one of the most peaceful and enriching experiences I’ve had in a long time. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this place is a perfect escape if you're looking for tranquility and spiritual calm.

The first thing that caught my eye was the towering 103-feet tall statue of Lord Buddha – it’s absolutely magnificent. The craftsmanship and detailing are stunning, and standing in front of it made me feel incredibly grounded and at peace. The entire area around the statue is beautifully maintained, with clean walkways and manicured gardens that add to the serene atmosphere.

As I explored further, I was captivated by the Tibetan-style stupa and temple structure. The architecture is breathtaking, with intricate murals and artwork that tell stories from Buddhist teachings. It’s not just a visual treat but also a cultural and spiritual experience. I spent a good amount of time walking around the prayer wheels, spinning each one gently while soaking in the positive energy of the place. The rhythmic sound of the prayer wheels turning, combined with the soft chanting from the nearby monastery, was truly soothing.

I also had the chance to sit quietly near the temple, where I saw a few monks and visitors meditating. I joined in for a while, and it felt like time stood still. It’s amazing how such a place, right within the city, can make you feel like you’ve been transported to another world.

One thing I really appreciated was how well-organized and clean the entire temple premises were. There are proper sitting areas, restrooms, and even small stalls selling Tibetan handicrafts and souvenirs. I picked up a few prayer flags and incense sticks to take a bit of the experience home with me.

The temple has specific opening and closing hours, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. It closes at 12 noon and reopens at 2:30 PM. I reached just before it closed and waited in the nearby garden area. The wait was peaceful and definitely worth it.

Overall, the Buddha Temple in Dehradun is not just a tourist spot—it’s a space for inner reflection and peace. Whether you are spiritual or not, visiting this place will leave you with a sense of calm and positivity. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Dehradun. It’s a must-visit for those who appreciate art, culture, or simply want a break from the fast-paced city life.

If I ever get the chance, I’d love to visit again—maybe stay longer next time and dive deeper into the spiritual ambiance this place offers. Truly a hidden gem in...
