Dhangarhi Gate and Museum, Jim Corbett, Ramnagar, Uttarakhand Exploring the Dhangarhi Gate and Museum at Jim Corbett, Ramnagar, Uttarakhand: A Must-Visit for Wildlife Enthusiasts Nestled in the heart of Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered - the Dhangarhi Gate and Museum at Jim Corbett National Park. This vibrant and intriguing museum is not just a gateway to the rich wildlife sanctuary but also a treasure trove of knowledge and excitement, especially for children and wildlife enthusiasts. A Portal to the Wild As you approach the Dhangarhi Gate, approximately 10 km from Ramnagar, you're greeted by a sense of adventure. This gate serves as a crucial checkpoint for safari, where the friendly and supportive staff ensure a smooth start to your wildlife journey. A Peek into the Wilderness The museum itself, is a fascinating display of the park's diverse flora and fauna. It successfully recreates various jungle scenarios, such as the monsoon season and nocturnal environment, bringing the wilderness to life. The detailed history of the jungle, complemented by the sounds of different animals and birds, makes for an immersive experience. A Treat for the Young Explorers What makes the Dhangarhi Museum a hit among young visitors is its interactive and educational displays. From the awe-inspiring Tiger cub fetus to the intricately detailed snake skin, each artifact tells a unique story of the wild. The museum's partially air-conditioned environment adds a touch of comfort to the exploratory journey, though some areas can feel a bit humid and cramped. A Blend of Technology and Nature The museum goes beyond traditional displays with its high-tech offerings. The 3D show is a visual delight, captivating visitors with its realistic portrayal of the park's ecosystem. The sound and light show, highlighting the nocturnal life in the forest, is another highlight that shouldn't be missed. Educational and Entertaining For those seeking an overview of Jim Corbett National Park, the museum is the perfect starting point. It provides a comprehensive view of the park's history, biodiversity, and conservation efforts through a mix of audio, video, and pictorial presentations. This educational aspect is particularly beneficial for kids, sparking their curiosity about wildlife and nature. Amenities and Souvenirs The Dhangarhi Gate area is well-equipped with facilities like toilets and a canteen, enhancing visitor comfort. The souvenir shop is a delightful stop, offering a range of printed T-shirts, caps, mugs, and showpieces, allowing you to take a piece of the wilderness home with you. A Call for Development The Dhangarhi Gate and Museum, while remarkable in its current state, presents potential for further development. Enhancing its features and facilities can attract more tourists and aid in spreading awareness about wildlife conservation. It's a call for the government and conservation bodies to invest in this educational and entertaining hub. So, pack your bags, and get ready to explore the wonders of Jim Corbett through the lenses of the Dhangarhi Museum.

There is a Jungle museum just near to gate and that charge is one hundred(100) for one person indian and 200 for foreigner one person A very unique museum to understand wild, environment of Jim Corbett park. Advisable to spent 1-2 hours before/after safari Great place to visit with family and friends. The most important and to remember is 3D show inside the museum. Also there's place to feel night life of Jungle and voices of different animals but when people keep up talking on mobile, one lost all the impact. There's a need to improve and upgrade the museum. This is a good way to teach and feel the Jungle life. A souvenir shop also there which have some unique products. If you have booked online for canter safari through dhekala zone in Jim Corbett National park then this is the point you can board your canter from . There is a parking and canteen facility here . You should reach here by 6 if booked for morning safari. Safari might take approximately 5 hours. It's recommended to book online in advance to avoid rush . Safari is very much worth it and expect nothing in terms of animal spotting and just enjoy the lush green forest . It's not a zoo for you to take granted that you will spot a tiger . There's availability of mini-bus to visit the park for five hours & ticket charge is 1900/-for Indians. Also jeeps are available to take tour of park for three hours carried six persons for 7500/-.

I really want to know who are the those super intelligent people who've given this useless money waste of a place 5 or 4 or even 3 stars. They charge ₹100/person, if I knew what was inside, I wouldn't have even paid ₹10. Firstly, there was no electricity, so the management there decided to save money by not running an ACs or extra lights on generators. The gathered the people and told them to move together so that they'll switch on the light for only room at a time. Now about the museum itself, each room was worse than the other. Half of them just had such fake looking statues and their noise control boxes were faulty and you couldn't even hear anything loudly. They had a room for experiencing night in jungle, it was so bad, neither their models or the sounds were even close to realistic. The wildlife video or whatever it was, it was closed, the guy told maintenance work is going on so we can't show anything. Their preserved skins were starting to get dirty, the models were starting to dismantle, there was zero maintenance or cleanliness in the place, it's nothing but a government run scam. Would've posted more pictures if there was anything worth clicking but alas!

Entry to it is itself the gate of Dhikala Safari. Exter the gate and check and ask for ticket counter. All the tigers and leopard are real dead skins perfectly preserved with details written below them. Majority of the people visiting seems to think it is costume. There are 2 different shows one is 3D and other is night experience in jungle with different animals and their sounds played around ina dark room. Being quite is the only way to enjoy the second show. A must visit place. Ticket price : 100RS. Also there is second museum on the way to Nainital in Chota Haldwani which is only meant to be visited by people who know Edward James Corbett "Jim Corbett" Or have had read his man Eater hunting books because that museum was his house and has nothing to offer to others with only some pictures and 2-3 rooms which can be done in 1-2 minutes but I stayed there for 45 minutes checking the most rubbish thing for others in detail. But this museum is for everyone. Bonus since you have read so far. If you want to do Safari in Dhikala on spot which requires a pre booking of 45 days. Simply approch bug safari busses which accommodate 20 people parked at the gate. Negotiate with them on prices and enjoy the safari. He asked me 3k on spot which I declined and showed him no interest for negotiation as I thought it was expensive and we are 9 people. Later I was confirmed it is 2k per person. A negotiation can work and this is the best safari range of Jim Corbett. Happy and safe travels. Also don't let anyone wander around because man eater tigers can be around the water Crossing you see outside have had seen many incidents of man eaters but killing only locals at late hours. This happened only in 2022-23 and there had been no things in the past 8-10 years.Stay safe and this place...
