Naukuchia Taal is one of the four major lake valleys of Kumaou hills in Uttarakhand. This is located around 9 KM from Bhimtal. The name Naukuchia is derived from nine corners of the lake. Around four decades ago, when connectivity was poor and very few people could reach here, folklore used to be circulated that, anyone who who saw all nine corners of the lake at the same same time was doomed to death. People were so enchanted by these kinds of stories that they either avoided visiting this site or few attempted to go to highest possible nearby peak and attempt to get glimpse of all nine corners of the lake. However, with infrastructure getting strengthened and place becoming easily accessible, number of visitors grew manifold, and such wierd stories died their natural death.

Naukuchiatal, which means "lake of nine corners," is a breathtaking haven of tranquility. Surrounded by majestic mountains, its serene waters offer a picturesque setting that soothes the soul. The presence of ducks and fishes adds to the natural charm, creating a harmonious ecosystem. Boating on the lake is a delightful experience, made even more enjoyable by its affordability and the stunning views it offers. Compared to nearby Nainital, Naukuchiatal's boating experience shines brighter, making it a preferred choice for visitors seeking a peaceful and fulfilling retreat. Overall, Naukuchiatal is a gem waiting to be explored, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility that leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.

Nanital is the lake district of India and Naukuichiatal is one of the deepest lake in Kumaon region. As the name suggests, this lake has 9 corners and there is no single spot that can give you a full view. Little away from the maddening crowds of Nainital, the lake is surrounded by hills with tall trees all over making the whole place serene. This place offers boating including some Shikara style boats and some other small adventures. Kids can also enjoy watching ducks and swans at the lake. There is also a small pond full of Lotus just beside the lake. The soft pink hues of the flowers were a delight for my eyes. I also enjoyed seeing lot of birds and monkeys there. If you are a nature lover, you will not be disappointed.
