This review is against the WBSFDA Biharinath Eco-Tourism (resort). ||||Pros: ||The resort location is not that bad. On the foothill of Biharinath Hill and beside the Biharinath Tourist Point (temple basically). The resort has a large premise, filled with many trees, parking space. ||||Rooms are very basic, and Okay for a night stay.||||Cons:||Well, there are many.||||1. Rooms not cleaned often. Bedsheets etc. never cleaned either. The resort is a no-TV zone (simply, there are no TVs).||2. Since on the foothill of Biharinath Hill, you can feel the descent clearly to room floors||3. There is no dedicated cook to the resort. There is a hotel beside the Biharinath Temple, which serves what-daal, some local sweets, some vujias etc. You need to go there and ask/order the proprietor-cum-cook to the hotel if they can prepare you some food. Obviously, menu-wise they do not go over their available rules. They do not cook any non-veg items to their hotel. For that, they use the resort's kitchen. This proprietor-cum-cook works a few hours at morning before opening his hotel (for any available guests), later at night After closing his hotel he returns to the resort to cook for guests again. Until he arrives, you better don't expect any food to be served. In our case, we had to wait till 08:00 PM for some evening snacks, and later at 10:30 PM we served dinner. In between, you can go to his hotel again and purchase whichever food is available only, but there's no other option you can take. The same veg thali which he sells at his hotel is 40 Rs. when the exact same thali when they prepare at the resort he charge 60 Rs. Be careful if you travel with children unless you have enough food stocked yourself.||||Other thoughts:||- The area became too dark after evening since there's very very less amount of lights available||- Resort premises' 90% keeps in dark, so you won't have many options to roam outside, even inside the premises||- Since there's no TV in the room as well, after evening it could become very boring unless you have enough stock for talks||||From a family traveler viewpoint:||- Better not to travel if you're expecting a lighter weekend/travel away from your tight city lift||- Since there's almost no activity available after evening, no food no place to jam, it can easily become the longest evening in your life. Better consider...

Essentially a lodge built for the travellers by the Forest department (WB Govt).||Its a beautiful place right in the lap of nature at the base of Biharinath hill. It is 32 Kms east of Garpanchkot, and lies just north of Saltora (Bankura). Biharinath hill is the tallest hill in Bankura, 451 metres high, and is a forest area. It is also part of the Eastern Ghat. It is situated about 14 kilometres north-east of Saltora town. Biharinath is also famous for its Shiva temple (Biharinath Dham).||||This visit was the last halt in our circuitous route Joypur Forest, Bishnupur, Garpanchkot, and finally Biharinath. From Garpanchkot we drove along Purulia - Asansol State Highway and turned right on to Saltora Road at Sarbari. From Sarbari the road continues until Madhukonda, where the condition of the road suddenly deteriorates. At Madhukonda railway crossing, the road is practically non existent, and is full of 5 - 6 feet wide craters that are easily 3 - 4 feet deep, which is ok for trucks and trekkers, but in no way fit for a Fiat Linea. The only consolation is that this precarious stretch is just about 4~5 km.||||Biharinath was our night halt destination. We had managed to book an AC cottage at the WB Forest Development Corporation - Eco Tourist Center. There are 6 odd cottages (not all cottages are AC equipped) at this center. Each cottage has two rooms with a hall. The Eco Tourist Center also has a decent size independent Dining hall with Kitchen. Since power is erratic, the AC cottage is largely namesake only. This is a no frills forest shelter and not a resort! It is ideal for forest & nature lovers who simply yearn to enjoy the simplicity & tranquillity of a forest. The weather outside the cottage was superb and fresh.||Biharinath offers ample opportunity to trek and see the huge variety of birds, trees including...
Read moreIf someone plans to visit Biharinath then this is the one of the two place where one can take a halt, another one is a resort of Forest Department. |Location of the Biharinath Tourist Point (BTP) is awesome, just on the foothill of the Biharinath Hills. The rating I would give BTP is average, not so good and not so bad. The rooms are clean but the Bed Sheets are not tidy, one will be lucky enough to find the Televisions working. The washrooms are also not very clean. One may find rats, lizards and frogs inside their rooms and washrooms.|THE WORDS OF THE BOOKING AGENT IS NOT WORTHY, what he commits only 50% will be delivered.|Booking agent will / may confirm that as per traveler's wish he can book rooms in the preferred floors, BUT THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN, AS THE ALLOCATION OF THE ROOMS ARE DONE BY THE MANAGER OF THE "BTP".|Manager - Mr Sudip Dasgupta is very cooperative and approachable. Food served is good and tasty, one can enjoy curry of "Fighter Cock".|Cook - Mr Mishra is also a good person, if any one wants to have food customized he makes all the arrangements and prepare it.|Overall the authority of the "BTP" should take the initiative to keep their surrounding neat and clean along with the rooms and washrooms.|"BTP" have approx twenty two rooms and one Dormitory within their premises.|If anyone requires the contact number of the Manager for bookings can share a request in my Inbox, I...
