Ihis is a Puja that was started by the Chakraborty Bari Zamindars and today it has become an important event in Konnagar s calendar. An expanse of serenity , mere metres away from the bustle of GT road — it's a quaint temple off the shores of Ganga. It doesn't have the real estate of dakshineswar, but it's a calming place nonetheless. The place has been thoughtfully designed keeping peacefullness as the priority. There are ample benches under shady trees to sit and Marvel at the ever flowing Ganges. The only gripe about the place is that the entrance to the temples are extremely narrow, and this leads to a mad rush during auspicious days. Moreover the purohits are the definition of rudeness as they show no mannerisms and characteristics of decency at all, and behave with the utmost rudeness with the devotees

Baro Mandir Ghat in Konnagar, West Bengal, is a historic and spiritual site known for its twelve 'Aatchala' Shiva temples, beautifully aligned along the Ganges River. These temples showcase traditional Bengali architecture, creating a serene and picturesque setting. The ghat is a popular spot for meditation, morning walks, and religious activities, especially during Maha Shivaratri. Visitors appreciate its peaceful environment, though amenities like toilets and cleanliness could be improved. Easily accessible by train or road, Baro Mandir Ghat is a perfect destination for those seeking spiritual solace, cultural heritage, or simply a tranquil escape by the river.

Recently we visited Baro Mandir Ghat at Konnagar and it was indeed an exhilarating experience. As its name implies there are twelve small Shiv temples at the bank of holy Ganges— just about thirty kilometres away from Kolkata. It was established way back in 1821 by Sri Harasundar Dutta and has immense mythological and historical importance. The place is very well maintained and gives you a feel of holiness! It is advisable to visit the place daytime for safety. You can reach there by auto from Serampore. Parking can be an issue for those who travel in private cars. Two-wheelers can be parked inside the premise. Till date, the entry is free of cost. It is the perfect destination for short trips. Personally I had a great time there. The serenity and quietness indulged me to play harmonica. My wife video recorded it. You can check that out in the video section. For past couple of months we have been traveling by the holy Ganges and have seen many tourist spots springing back to normalcy. Still many are there, having restricted entries, uncharted yet. Thanks to Google Map for providing us a convivial platform to share our experiences. Goodbye till next...
