Prakriti Bhavan (sometimes spelled Prakriti Bhawan) is a unique nature art museum located in the Ballavpur area near Santiniketan, in Birbhum district, West Bengal, India. Situated about 3-4 km from the heart of Santiniketan and close to the Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary, it’s an easy stop for those exploring the region’s cultural and natural attractions. The museum features an impressive collection of natural sculptures crafted from driftwood, dry wood, and metal, displayed across four small indoor galleries (non-air-conditioned) where visitors must remove their shoes. Outside, a sprawling open-air garden showcases striking rock sculptures set against Santiniketan’s picturesque red-soil landscape. Highlights include intricate woodworks resembling animals or abstract forms and bronze transcreations that blend natural and artistic elements. An adjacent pond with lilies adds charm, though it’s not part of the museum and could use better upkeep. Entry Fee: Rs. 30 per person; children up to 6 years enter free.

They have an open outdoor garden space filled with rock sculptures and indoor displays of nature artifacts made of dry wood, rock, stone and metal. They are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm everyday. They also have a museum canteen to relish matka chai and local snacks. The most awestrucking moment would be to know that none of the sculptures and artifacts have had a human touch.
