Ramprasad Kali Mandir, Halisahar — Attraction in West Bengal

This historical south facing temple of Goddess Kali ( Ma Jagadeswari ) is at the residence ( Bastuvita ) of great saint - poet Ramprasad Sen ( 1720 AD - 1781 AD ) at Shiber Gali , Halisahar. In past Halisahar was known as Kumarhatta. The shrine is Bangla dalan style on raised plinth with a porch in front of gorvamandir. One spacious natmandir in front of the main shrine.

This is a place of Shakti cult and saint - poet Ramprasad started meditation of devine mother day after day at Panchabati and Panchamundasan and thus he attended devine grace of Ma Jagadeswari. Sadhak Kabi wrote more than 500 devotional songs . Those are known as famous Ramprasad Sangeet in Bengali literature.

Ramprasad bathing ghat at the bank of river Bhagirathi is another sacred place of Hindu religious people as Sadhak Kabi disappeared here with his mother's image ( Ma Jagadeswari) on head.

Both the temple and bathing ghat are the places of attraction of devotees for spiritual and historical interest.

Annual religious festivals are : Annakuit utsab ( 26th January every year) Snan Yatra ( Day before Rath Yatra) This is the prathistha dibas of the image of Ma Jagadeswari. Annual Kali puja ( Dwipannita Night)

Location:- Near to Halisahar Station.. By shared auto Rs.10.00 per head for 10 mts. It is the most famous Kali Temple of the locality. Visited by a good number of people every day and maximam gathering seen in Saturday and Tuesday. Puja can be offered in systematic manner and with each individual name and Gotra.

Many stall just infront of the Temple Gate from where you can buy Puja Dali as per your choice. Dali Prise:- Rs.51.00,Rs.101,Rs.151 and so on. You can also keep your shoes free of cost in the particular stall. The environment of Temple is calm and quiet. The temple is on the residence of the Great saint poet Ramprasad Sen. He is very famous by his master creation Shyama sangit.

Goddess Kali is also known as Ma Jagadeswari. The Temple and different programme is looked after by the Halisahar Goodwill Fraternity Organisation.

Annakut Utsav Of this Temple is very famous and celebrated every year on 26th January.
