Information About Madhavaram Botanical Garden from wikipedia It is a botanical garden in Chennai, India, set up by the horticulture department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The garden, the second botanical garden in Chennai after the Semmozhi Poonga, is the largest botanical garden in the city.
The garden is located at the State horticulture farm in Madhavaram Milk Colony. The garden is broadly divided into sections for fruits, medicinal plants, indoor plants, cactus and ornamental arboretum, besides one for protected cultivation.
The garden also has a small bridge has been built to attract birds from where visitors will get a view of the lake. The garden will have nearly 400 species of plants, including about 200 ornamental plants. A glasshouse similar to the one in the garden at Udhagamandalam will also be created, with different types of gardens, including herbal, flowers, bonsai and trellis gardens, in addition to mazes, a play area for children, cascades and many fountains. The garden will also have an open-air theatre with a capacity to seat nearly 150 people. There will also be a nursery outlet at the garden. There are also plans to create a section for 27 birthstars (nakshatram) as specified in the Hindu almanac. Read moreThe expectation of the Botanical Gardens and their maintenance is of utmost importance if you want the local community to cherish and visit it and experience the aura of the place.
Unfortunately, with most expectations, I noticed that the security person managing the place was selling the tickets to enter the site. I just realised that this place was out of disaster.
Nevertheless, the entrance seemed well-maintained to impress the crowd at the door with various types of flowers and plants, and most of them were captivating to your eyes and sense of joy.
As you move further up. You would notice couples shamelessly making out under the plants and covering under certain bushes, making it scary for the children. I also noticed a group of adults celebrating with liquor and no sense of decency.
The lake, or pond, was almost drying up, the garbage on the walk paths was cluttered, and there was no maintenance.
You have a spot for the kids to play, which is not maintained. Overall, it was pathetic even to call it a Botanical Garden; you have a bunch of guys staring at girls so that they can find some visibility.
