Batam Zoo Paradise has made quite an impression on me during my recent visit. Nestled in the lush surroundings of Batam Island, this zoo is a delightful destination for families and animal lovers alike.

One of the first things that struck me was the cleanliness of the environment. The zoo takes great pride in maintaining a clean and hygienic atmosphere, with staff regularly seen tending to the grounds and animal habitats. The pathways are well-kept, making it easy to navigate with little ones in tow. The attentive maintenance not only enhances the overall experience but also reflects the zoo’s commitment to animal welfare—an essential aspect for any reputable institution.

The variety of animals on display is commendable, featuring a diverse range of species from local wildlife to exotic creatures. Each enclosure is designed to mimic the animals' natural habitats as closely as possible, allowing visitors to appreciate the animals in comfortable settings. It’s evident that the staff genuinely cares for the well-being of the animals, with informative signage that educates visitors about each species' habits and conservation status.

For families with children, Batam Zoo is particularly friendly. The zoo is designed with kids in mind, featuring spacious walking paths and interactive exhibits that engage children's curiosity about wildlife. There are plenty of areas for kids to explore and learn while also enjoying playful activities. The presence of well-maintained play areas is a bonus, allowing children to burn off some energy after strolling through the exhibits.

One of the highlights of my visit was the animal feeding sessions, where children (and adults) could actively participate in feeding some of the more gentle animals. It was an unforgettable experience, fostering a sense of connection and understanding about the animals' needs and habits.

Moreover, the staff at Batam Zoo exudes a warm and friendly demeanor, always willing to answer questions and share insights about the animals. Their enthusiasm greatly enhances the overall experience and makes for a welcoming atmosphere. Shoutout to Obi, thank you for taking the lovely photos for our families.

In conclusion, Batam Zoo is a gem on Batam Island that offers a clean, fun, and educational environment for families. Whether you’re an avid animal lover or just looking for a fun day out with the kids, this zoo makes for a fantastic outing. I highly recommend paying a visit—it’s a place where both young and old can learn, explore, and appreciate the beauty of wildlife in a safe and enjoyable setting. Please maintain the cleanliness of the zoo and in pretty sure I’ll recommend to my other friends and...

one of the worst 'zoo' i've ever visited in my life. the space is way too small to be called a zoo. most animals are not well groomed, they look so stressed and unwell. they all look so overheated due to hot weather (except for 3 cats that have AC in their 'room'). there is no mist fan for rest of them, not enough water to let them cool down their body temperature. each species also do not have enough space. if the space is only for reptiles that might be enough. space for more than 5 dogs is less than 2x2 metres, and dogs look overheated and sad. cats need space, but here the cats are cramped, 3 cats within 1x1x1 metres crate. dogs, cats, monkey, rabbits, capybara, and more... cant you guys see that they look so stressed? the birds area are also very small... there are big birds that needs to fly high & in wider area, but your birds are too much in one space, and you also chain most of them to their post... the food & drink compartments for them also look very very dirty & they are definitely not being cleaned/change regularly. the food & drink are also very limited & really poor quality, even moss begin to grow in their water etc. please just donate the animals to conservation so that the animals have better living quality. zoo is not supposed to be prison for animals. good zoo could help bridging human & animal understanding, giving education for us, makes us become aware of other species and begin to care for them. i know money must be the problem, thats why as long as the animals are well kept, people who truly likes animals wont mind paying several times more bcs it will pain them more when they saw zoo that is not taking good care of their animals. which is why i suggest to let conservation taking good...

Fun for families with young children. Many animals to see, pet and feed. Can spend half a day here.

Entrance fees to pay in cash or credit card at the door: Weekdays 80k rupiah per adult, 60k per kid 3 to 10 years old. Weekends 90k per adult, 70k per kid. One bucket of animal feeds at about 40k.

Most animals have have their names displayed in Bahasa Indonesia, English, Chinese with hanyupinyin and scientific. Short description of the animal in Bahasa Indonesia and English. The bucket of feeds can feed quite a number of animals. A few other animals have specialized feeds (e.g. hay for alpaca/ goat, baby catfish to ibis birds) that is to be paid in cash to the individual zookeeper, about 5-10k rp each. A few and owls that can perch on our arms (zookeeper will assist), no extra charge. Could cradle the marble fox our arms too. While majority of the animals look ok, a few seemed to be in poor condition.

Other activities include: Water play Challenge water park Rainbow slide 30k for 2 rides Excavator game Pony ride, horse carriage ride High ropes (high elements overhead) Spider web bouncing nets - free

Toilets: one at the entrance, another all the way inside where the water park is, has shower area and cubicles.

Food: one cafe in the middle, one canteen and the end (next to waterpark). Menus are attached.

No aircon area but has many fans, shelter and seats scattered around the compound. So still quite comfortable if there are elderly in the group. Also has several handwashing stations with soap.

Staff are friendly, able to speak simple English.

We took Grab here and back.

Less crowded when the park just...

We're only at the entrance of the zoo, and there are already 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱)! Even before stepping in, the staff offered me the incredible opportunity to hold an eagle owl. 🦉 I initially wondered if there would be a charge, but throughout the entire visit, the keepers kept 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱, 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, and even 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀—completely free! Their dedication and generosity made the experience truly unforgettable. ✨ At the petting zoo, I find myself conflicted. 🦎 The lizards and 🐍 snakes feast on live mice, and the sight feels cruel. Brutal, even. But nature is brutal. Out there in the wild, there’s no zookeeper to ensure the mouse meets a swift end. Here, at least, I know if the poor creature isn’t gone in seconds, the keeper would intervene. Then there’s the sugar glider. I don’t suppose it enjoys being tossed. 🐾 But seeing how the sugar glider always hopped happily back to the keeper, and groomed itself calmly in his hands, trusting, safe, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆. 🐢🐇 As we made our way out, we passed the tortoises and rabbits, 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹. 🐾 I picked up a ferret just 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, its tiny mouth busy with food. It didn’t even pause. It just kept eating. 𝗨𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱. 🐐 The pigmy goat that I was feeding trotted off. The keeper smiled and said, “𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙜𝙤.” 🦙 Even the alpacas 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁. I truly believe the animals here 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲.
