Gaya Klasik Kolonial Pembentuk Jati Diri

Jika dilihat sekilas, bentuk bangunan Masjid Raya Akbar At-Taqwa Bengkulu lebih menyerupai istana pada masa kolonial ketimbang masjid pada umumnya. Masjid yang menjadi kebanggaan masyarakat Bengkulu ini didirikan dekat rumah Presiden RI pertama, Soekarno, saat diasingkan oleh pemerintah kolonial Belanda.

Kemiripan masjid ini dengan model bangunan istana era kolonial terlihat dari taman yang cukup luas dengan gaya penataan layaknya taman di halaman istana kepresidenan atau alun- alun kecil di halaman keraton.

Selain itu, ada juga teras berbentuk koridor panjang yang mengelilingi ruang utama. Koridor dengan deret tiang penyangga berbentuk bulat berwarna putih yang dipadu dengan pagar besi membuat masjid semakin terlihat mirip istana.

Keunikan yang menjadi ciri khas masjid ini adalah kubah bulat namun bertingkat tiga layaknya kubah limas. Sekilas mirip piring terbang dalam film- film luar angkasa.

Di bagian dalam masjid akan terlihat tata ruang yang cukup minimalis. Tidak banyak detail ornamen di situ. Dinding dibiarkan polos dengan mengandalkan warna natural marmer yang melapisinya.

Bila di masjid lain kubah bagian dalam biasanya dihias berbagai lukisan dan kaligrafi, di sini dibiarkan polos. Yang ditampilkan hanya visualisasi materi pembuat kubah, yakni alur-alur kayu yang diberi warna krem muda.

Di bagian tengah plafon kubah menggantung lampu hias bergaya klasik minimalis. Hanya ada sejumlah titik lampu kecil tanpa dikombinasikan dengan material lain yang biasanya mempercantik tampilan lampu tersebut.

Mihrab yang menjadi sentralisasi visual pun tidak banyak diberi hiasan. Bagian ini hanya dibedakan dengan warna keramik bernuansa gelap abu- abu di latar belakang dan ruangan yang menjorok masuk berbentuk kotak dengan gaya pigura ruang berlapis.

Gaya klasik kolonial ini sebenarnya cukup unik, mengingat masjid dibangun pada tahun 1988, jaub setelah era kolonialisme di Indonesia. Namun, kombinasi gaya klasik kolonial dengan sentuhan minimalis terbukti berhasil menegaskan jati diri Masjid Raya Akbar At-Taqwa yang berbeda dengan masjid- masjid lain...

This the Grand Mosque in Bengkulu province. The first time when I visit this city is that I very keen to visit this Grand Mosque. The location is very easy to be found. Really in the city centre. The calligraphy in the front side of this mosque are very beautiful. Full of art. This mosque make us calm and stay longer inside. My first time to be here is during Fajr time. The imam recitation is very nice dan make me very happy to be here. The carpet also very clean and well maintained. The toilets are very clean.
