Ok, this is the deal. If you want to make a stroll around an old sugar factory, this is the place. I played cs:go a lot in my youth, and this place remembering me, about sugarcane map (which is one fun map with too many chooke points). Old sugar factory with somehow, still had some machine that installed properly, even though that machines cannot be operated anymore. Yoi will find a nice cooling system with many photo booths, and the one that located near the coffe shop is the best (considering its lighting and such), do not afraid to getting hot inside, and yes you better enter the building rather wandering outside, especially in the sunny day, there is no trees outside, so it will be a nice sauna for you (i gave this place 4 stars because of the lack of trees). And because of this reason, it would be the best if you go there at the evening, on sunset time, and feel yourself the taste of old east hindia colonialism, and it romantism throughout the history. You can find a nice dining place there, i cannot remember but it feels like this place had 2 kind if shops Firs is the coffe shop, and second a high end cafe that actually serve some cocktail, spirits and wine. I am actually eating in the high end cafe because somehow my friend could afford the bills, and of course we are not drinking those alcohol. But overall the dishes just fine, I highly recommend the indonesian cuisine, but the western, nah probably i am not a big fan of it.
Overall this is of course a historical place which you can learn a lot. And considering its size you can have some workout here. But most of all this is a beautiful place to hanging out with friends and families. The food and beverage are not cheap but you don't have to paid anything but parking retribution. And also located right in the surakarta's main road, if you have some time to spare, visit this and probably you will happy...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Tjolomadoe Museum in Solo, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. This museum, housed in a restored sugarcane factory from the 19th century to the 1990s, offers a captivating glimpse into the region's rich history.
As soon as I stepped foot inside, I was immediately transported back in time. The museum's meticulously preserved exhibits beautifully showcase the industrial heritage of the factory, giving visitors a comprehensive understanding of the sugarcane industry's importance in Solo's past. From the informative displays to the engaging interactive elements, every corner of the Tjolomadoe Museum had something intriguing to offer.
One highlight of my visit was the opportunity to witness the sugarcane processing techniques that were used in the past. The museum has recreated a fully functional traditional sugar mill, allowing visitors to observe the intricate process firsthand. It was an immersive experience that left me in awe of the ingenuity and hard work that went into producing sugar during that era.
The Tjolomadoe Museum also boasts a charming café where visitors can relax and savor some delicious local treats. The serene surroundings and picturesque views added to the overall ambiance, providing a perfect spot to reflect on the historical journey.
In conclusion, the Tjolomadoe Museum is a hidden gem in Solo that offers a unique and enlightening experience for history enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. The dedication to preserving the factory's heritage is commendable, and the educational value it provides is simply outstanding. I highly recommend a visit to this remarkable museum—I guarantee you won't be...
Read moreI love museum, especially when it related to my childhood.
This magnificent building is a former sugar factory which was abandoned due to age, thus reducing its productivity.
In its era it seemed to be the largest building, but turned to spooky after abandoned. Thankfully, since 2017, the government has renovated it and made it look beautiful.
Inside, there are many big machines related to sugar factories. There are mockups that describe the miniature of the factory in full, although the lighting may not be able to display it optimally.
The history of sugar trading from the Dutch era is also well written, including the position of Indonesia (the Dutch East Indies) in the world sugar arena.
For small children, will be entertained when entering the laser show room which is projected onto the wall to all six sides. it contains sugar cane, sugar, lorries, garden, butterflies.
Uh yes, there is also a fairly large cafe in it, but unfortunately the location is not well exposed. At the other side, appears to be actually a smaller place to eat along with rows of souvenirs (batik, clothes, woven, etc.) which unfortunately should be better organized.
Car park provided, very spacious. of course, due to it was a factory. The problem is that everything is open without a top-closed corridor for pedestrians from/to the parking lot going into the museum. Good if it's not raining, but troublesome if it rains.
Not many visitors visit it except maybe in the school children's holiday season. But in general, domestic tourists do not like to visit history...
