Indonesia is a land of natural wonders, with majestic volcanoes and stunning landscapes. One of the most famous of these is the Mount Bromo, located in East Java. The sunrise view from Penanjakan viewpoint is an experience that is worth waking up early for.

We started our journey at 3am from our hotel in a 4x4 vehicle to reach the viewpoint by 4.30am. We were advised to plan well in advance, as the route to the viewpoint is usually crowded with traffic jams all the way to the top. We encountered many two-wheeler riders on our way, who were ferrying people to the viewpoint.

After a long journey, we finally reached the viewpoint, and the view was simply breathtaking. It was an early morning, but the view of the surrounding mountains and the misty sky was worth it. The entire place was crowded with people who had come to witness the magical sunrise view.

As we looked around, we saw the first light of dawn slowly illuminating the sky. The sky started changing color, from deep purple to hues of orange and yellow. The sun finally rose, casting its rays on the rugged terrain of Mount Bromo, creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadows.

The view from the viewpoint was surreal, with the clouds floating below us, and the sun casting its warm glow on the rocky terrain. We could see the vast expanse of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park from the viewpoint, with its green valleys and volcanic peaks. It was truly a mesmerizing sight.

The Penanjakan viewpoint is known for its stunning views, and it was evident from the number of people who had come to witness it. We were lucky enough to get a good spot from where we could see the sunrise in all its glory.

In conclusion, the sunrise view from Penanjakan viewpoint is an experience that is hard to forget. The early morning journey, the crowds, and the traffic are all worth it when you witness the stunning beauty of the sunrise over Mount Bromo. It is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and is looking for a unique...

Excellent feeling to watch a live volcano mountains. One must experience the sunrise and the views of the Bromo and other mountains. It will be a detox for the people struggling due to the stressful jobs and running the rat races. The view and the places are so serene. Thanks to the tourism department for the good roads till we enter the actual savanna. The jeep off-roading experience is also good. I have paid about 995000 Indonesia currency for this trip, which includes a 300000 rs foreigner entry fee, pickup, drop car from surabaya, and jeep travel to reach Bromo. I don't feel it is as expensive as we mostly spend this amount for a weekend meal. They picked me up at 10 pm and reached a village after a 4 hour drive. There, they shifted us to a Jeep for the Bromo visit. We reached Mount bromo Sunrise Point by 4am. If you leave by 11.30pm or 12.00 hrs, also ok as you will reach the sunrise point by 5.30am. Ensure that you carry a good quality full sleeve jacket, head gear, and gloves to protect yourself from the chilling winds. You can get a jacket and a blanket there. They charged us 20k for a jacket and 10k for the blanket. You can bargain also. After sunrise, photos, etc, you need to board the jeep again to reach Mount bromo, a live volcano. You need to walk about 2 km one side on the black sand (it may be the volcanic lava sand, I am not sure). Then, you need to take about 100 steep steps to reach the volcano mouth. The experience is amazing. My colleague took a horse ride, and she bargained for 150k...

Bromo is surprisingly cold. Prepare yourself as you might be run of your breath due to high altitude area. Suggestion to use mask to protect from sulfur smell and dust and also wear thick clothes, beanie, gloves and socks. The crater is surrounded by the Sea of Sand of fine volcanic. The way to reach the base of Bromo Crater was not smooth, needed to climb over 200 stairs. It took us around 45 minutes by walking or you can rent horse riding around IDR 100.000 - IDR 150.000, bargaining is possible as well. In certain time such as Eid el-Fitri, high season (Juni - October) will be a massive crowded, so for the suitable you can arrange your trip besides this season. The entrance fee for Domestic is IDR 27.500 and Foreigner is USD 220.000. There are some hostel and hotel nearby starting point at Cemoro Lawang with low budget for backpacker, and if you want to rent jeep please make sure to the driver of supplier because sometimes they changes suddenly. Before trekking to Bromo, you can also do the trekking to Pananjakan Hill to see the magnificent sunrise view ever around Bromo Tengger Semeru mountains. The hill location is around 30...

Amazing views of the ever popular Bromo. Access is by paid “Jeep” or motorcycle. Recommend getting your Jeep early in the morning as Jeep traffic congestion becomes an issue and parking becomes scarce. All part of the adventure. Viewpoint on top of the mountain can get quite cold - wear jackets and beanies. Blankets and sitting mats are on hire if needed. If weather is in your favour, you get breathtaking views of the craters at sunrise. Fog and cloud can cover on other days and seem to be unpredictable. The whole area is filled with tourists and jeeps basically doing the same routine. Sunrise views and a list of routine photo stops. It feels a bit like a contiki tour but it is well worth it and a lot of fun. The walk up to Bromo crater itself is a moderate hike and the air is thin. Definitely a recommended side trip if you’re in east Jawa My last photo was taken from a hotel near the park entry point, just before sunrise on the morning after our sunrise photos. It shows the variation in weather/fog and the changes in volcanic gas activity.
