A hidden gem in Bali many many people don't know about.
On the way from the gate to heaven back to ubud. Lies about 1 km off track from the main road inside fields.
You may think there is nothing inside when you get off the main highway.
You may also think there cannot be a beautiful place here.
But at the end of a 1 km trail you find this hidden gem next to the indian ocean.
A vast expance with many many many places to enjoy and spend your time here.
A swing tied to 2 trees which takes on top of the indian ocean and back. The ocean wind, the sun and the scene add to the beauty of the place.
Add with the fact that not many people visit this place and you are looking at a peaceful wondder in crowded bali.
The owner has also set up a concrete and wood based ship here which is 2 stories high and sits just at the edge of he ocean.
Hit the upper deck of the ship and look into the indian ocean for a fascinating and undisturbed view of the majestic beauty.
You can easily spend hours here holding hands and sitting with your spouse.
Next to it is a way to ensure the locals prosper with the chocolate factory. They make the best soaps of the most different scents by using the locally available coconut oil. You can buy them as a set or loose. Choose them and buy them the way you like.
And the most important thing in a chocolate factory is the chocolate itself. Made from the most readily available local ingredients. Cocoa Coconut milk. Coconut powder And coconut sugar.
Many different tastes, varieties and textures to choose from. Feeling of a life time. Buying freshly made chcocolate and consuming it alongside.
Next to it is a small eatery which serves pan cakes, french fries and sandwiches. Enough to contain your hunger pangs while you enjoy the natural show.
Go to bali and go for this is my take on...
Read moreHi Charly,
My partner and I visited your Chocolate Factory on the 23rd July and as a result purchased 2 x krunch, 1 x Goji Bite-Size Nibbles, 1 x nuteresa, 3 soap story books and 8 x soap. It is obvious we enjoyed your product taste testing and purchased gifts for our family and friends. We arrived in Australia today and I was so excited to open the bottle of nuteresa (Chocolate Spread) to give my children a taste (as well as have more myself) and to my disappointment, it did not taste the same as the taste test. It tastes sour and off. I looked on the bottle and could not find any expiry nor packaging date. I kept it in a cool place the rest of my stay in Bali and even carried it in my hand luggage aboard the plane to keep it cool, so I know storage was not the issue. As per previous reviews I just read, the location is amazing with a beautiful beach front view and the set up is cute with unique buildings. I was glad it wasn't packed with tourists. Be proud of what you have and offer to show people. The staff were not welcoming and we were not offered any tours or explanation on how the chocolate or soap is made...just a quick show of the beans and a taste test of the 4 types of chocolate products. The entrance fee was disclosed after the tasting and is reasonable for up keep, just make it known at the door with a sign. Get people to wash their hands with your soap before they try your chocolate samples. I have yet to see how your soaps are, they are presented well and smell nice. I will leave you with this feedback to hopefully improve your products and protect your business. Kind...
Read moreWe had to park at a villa nearby because the road was muddy and we would probably get bogged if we tried it! Once we got to the place it seemed deserted and not much going on but eventually an old guy greeted us. He was Charlie and he was the guy who started it all and he invited us in to see where it's made. He's a bit of an eccentric old guy but in a charming way. He offered us samples of cacao beans which was interesting to try. He also offered us samples of some finished products and showed us the soaps he makes. We bought a few items which totalled 200k rupiah which I thought was expensive for 3 items but probably worth it for the quality. When we left he went over to another building where some women were and my girlfriend heard them ask him in Balinese "where are they from?" and then "you didn't charge them enough money!!" (My girlfriend is Indonesian so understood what they were saying) so then he chases us down and said we needed to pay an extra 100k because he got the prices wrong! I said to him "ah you've been told to charge us bule price!!" He pretended to not know what i meant but I didn't want to cause any problems so we just paid it. I feel bad for him because he's such a chilled guy but he gets bossed around by the local women he has working for him... Overall it was not what we expected. It's quite disorganised and messy. On the road in there is a direction sign at a fork in the road and it was upside down, should've taken that as a clue we were up for a Fawlty towers...
