Very sadly there’s only a few of the mangrove trees left. Our guide explained that this is due to the impact of tourism and tourists walking to close to them. The remaining ones are protected by little walls of rocks around them. They are nice to see, but given that we were expecting a whole mangrove forest (as apparently existed a few years ago) we were underwhelmed. Some people were happy to come and get a nice shot for insta with careful framing but what’s happened here is really sad. The beach itself will not impress you if you have been to some of the incredible beaches on Sumba’s south coast. Worth a stop if you’re passing to see...

Don't forget bring your camera, tripod or Drone to take the exotic landscape of this beautiful area. Read moreThe dancing trees, we did not see, as the water that was, was above our knees!! 😁🙄. But some good snorkelling made up for it - note you have to swim out for about 20 minutes (with flippers) to reach the coral. It's very, very shallow here for a long time. Water clear, especially once you get to the coral. Some fun beach kids hung out with us, too! Free to park and to visit...
