From the very first moment you see the multistory car parks you know you are going to be ripped off.
We was followed by a group of women into the car park, and as we was taking our helmets off was harassed and forced upon with offerings we supposedly had to buy to enter the temple. We declined and hurried away.
When we got to the ticket off we realised that it isn't 60k anymore and the shuttle is optional. Instead the ticket is 90k and the shuttle is mandatory as part of the ticket and you get a guide included.
The guide we was given was an absolute joke, he walked around with us awkwardly completly silent and just pointed at places and went "picture here please". Over the course of the tour we would ask him if he had anything to teach us about the temple and he would say "mother temple" and point at the temple an then say if we had any questions he would answer them, but then avoid answering any we had.
When speaking to him we found out that the temple employs locals who aren't even guides to come and do tours for the tourists for money. He said that he doesn't like his job but he needs the money so just does it, and then went on saying he just wants to be home with his animals.
The whole tour was pointless, the guide had no interest in being there. It seemed like he had no clue about the temple and if he did he was bothered to tell us. He made the whole experience awkward and unenjoyable.
We later found out that after the 90k entrance fee, you can't enter any of the temples unless you buy offerings from the locals for 50k each offering, so if you wanted to go in different temples you would have to pay 50k each time.
When we went nobody had bought offerings because of the price so instead everyone was escorted around the temples down alleyways where you could barely see anything over the walls. You had to take a picture over the walls to actually see any of the temples.
90k entrance fee for a shuttle up the hill, given a guide who complains he doesn't want to be there and you can't even see none of the temples unless you pay 50k each Temple.
This is the worst money grabbing place I've ever been to in Indonesia and my life.
Clearly set up to drain tourists of their money and give it to locals, who don't even want to give you a good experience.
We drove 1.5 hours from Ubud to visit and it was not worth it whatsoever. It's not even a...
Read moreThis has been my worst experience in Bali so far. If you dont want to have the same experience i suggest reading this review. It left me feeling uneasy, the way the temple has become a trap for tourists.
With your ticket you get a free cover up a guide who will DEMAND at the end of your tour for as much money as possible. He started off sweet, but after he asked for a tip and once we handed him a 120k he switched his tone and became rude, making comments and ect.
Once we got off the shuttle, we got swarmed by locals selling us offering and lying that you have to have an offering each person in order to go. If you really want to have a meditation, one plastic bag is enough for 2 people!
You can also ask your guide or other tourist to take a picture of you, if you dont want to pay for the mirrored picture. Be aware that after the meditation (if you bought flowers) you will be asked to give a donation, luckly we were not forced to give more than we were willing to, but i have heard stories saying otherwise.
We went to the temple with our own taxi from Gojek and I RECOMMEND it. Our taxi driver waited for us to finish and drove back up to pick us up when we were done. What frustrated me was the fact that local taxis and our guide, even after we kindly told them that we had our own taxi, they kept trying to send us on the bottom of the building trying to confuse us to get into a different taxi.
Get ready to pay for everything and also to donate for everything. This left us unease due to the fact that a lot of things seem to first be offered out of “kindness” but then switched for money. We only wanted to check out the history but it has definitely not been...
