Bukit Pandawa Golf and Country Club was voted the World’s Best Par 3 Golf Course in 2017 by World Golf Awards. This award coincided with a couple of firsts. 2017 was the golf course’s first full year of existence, and it was also the first year a par 3 course had been included as a category. In fact, Bukit Pandawa was nominated in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and is again nominated for 2022 (voting takes place in October, so be sure to vote!!
Bukit Pandawa stretches to a long 3028-yards from the Black tees, with a wide variety of lengths ranging from 246-yards to 117-yards. Other than driver, I think I used every club in my bag, the holes on the course have that much variety in distance. If you are wondering what the best par 3 on the World’s Best Par 3 Golf Course is, the answer has to be the thirteenth. Slightly uphill, with the ocean in the background and a water tower just long of the green, the thirteenth at Bukit Pandawa is 186-yards long and is an absolutely fantastic golf hole!
The ocean is visible from many holes on both the front and back, but the stretch of holes from 14 to 17 have ocean views that are quite simply the best on the golf course.
Bukit Pandawa Golf and Country Club has a routing that goes around a small crest of a hill with the first 7 holes on the east side and the remaining 11 holes on the west side. We don’t recall any back-to-back holes that continued in the same direction. Many holes have forced carries to the greens, but there were also more than a couple that had fairways all the way to the greens.
The Clubhouse at Bukit Pandawa sits at the top of the property and is spectacular! It has a modern contemporary Balinese temple look to it and is finished in natural materials such as wood and the famous black Bali volcanic rock. We enjoyed sitting up top while soaking in the incredible 360-degree views!
We would recommend a round of golf at Bukit Pandawa Golf and Country Club- after all, how often can you say...
Read moreThis is our 2nd trip to Bkt Pandawa Golf Club in 2 years.
Booked a 0730 tee time, nice and early to avoid the hot afternoon sun. For the entire 18 holes, we felt as if we booked the entire course, seeing no one else playing. That was great.
The course is as pretty as we remembered it to be. A beautiful 18-hole par3 course.
Unfortunately, the conditions have deteriorated somewhat, perhaps due to the lack of players...
The rough was unkempt, long weeds overwhelming landscaped areas. The tee-boxes still look good, but the greens have become somewhat slow and patchy, with uneven speed. Perhaps, it has been raining fairly extensively the past few months, so they haven't attempted to do too much to the greens.
What was most disconcerting and distracting however, was the fact that the entire course from tee to green was infested with black caterpillar/millipede-like insects. If you are squirmish, you will not be able to tee-off at all.
And it cannot be more distracting when you try to putt on a green full of crawlies criss-crossing your lines while you fail miserably at not stepping/squishing them with your feet.
The caddies have their hands full sweeping the greens of the crawlies along your putting lines. They mentioned that the infestation is most severe if it rained the previous evening, while the situation improves as the sun rises.
The Club must address this problem one way or another. They do charge very premium prices at ~USD110 per round, and we can't be expected to play in poor conditions like this.
I really hope they get their standards back, as the facilities are still very good. As it is, there are too few good golf clubs in Bali already. Perhaps I should leave my clubs at home the...
Read moreThis is one of the best golf course in Bali. A short par3 course but nonetheless very challenging. Each golfer will be accompanied by a caddy. I think the caddy are very inexperienced and they didn’t understand basic English well to answer some of our questions in the course. I played before covid in 2019 when the course and clubhouse were new and in tiptop condition. Today in 2022 the clubhouse looks tired and poorly maintained. The course still looks stunning with the sea in the foreground. The restaurant seems understaffed as they need to cook for a bigger party crowd before serving us. There is also a cat that roamed around the restaurant which I’m not comfortable with. There were also lots of monkeys in hole 12 and 13 and they climbed over the club house later in the afternoon. As I’m not comfortable with monkeys I didn’t enjoy the last part of my...
