We arrived at the beach, paid an entrance fee of 10,000 IDR, and parked our bike under a tree which was a designated parking spot. As soon as you park there, there will be people who approach you with tour packages to see nearby attraction around the beach, as that beach was a huge and pretty long stretched beach.
We took a walk to this little hill which you can climb on, and just chill there to enjoy the view and catch the sunset, you are also able to view Merese Hill from that beach, the sunset is gorgeous by the way.
So what happened was, me and my friend decided to chill past sunset till it was all dark to catch the stars, (which was also beautiful as long as you have clear skies that are not clouded). When we walked back to out motorbike, we found out that it was missing. Obviously, we panicked and figured out that our rented motorcycle was stolen.
We stopped one of the locals riding nearby and explained our situation, he said that probably a local from the nearby village might have pushed our motorcycle to a near by village for safety, and he will go check it out for us. True enough, after waiting for him, he got back to us with the good news that our Motorcycle is at the village. So we walked over, collected our bike with a thank you tip of 10,000 IDR and went our way back. Really interesting day...
Read moreBeautiful white sand beach, quite long full of super chilled warungs. The sea is not wavy so you can properly swim and relax here. Also didn't find it to be dirty, people are in general responsible here and keep it clean. Can still surf and have surf classes as most establishments arrange a boat to bring you to the surf part of the bay. Not too many sellers but you might have to say 'no' a few times, not overwhelming though and they are quite respectful. Might even have some fun haggling prices with the kids and getting to know a bit about their lives as they are quite approachable :). You can avoid paying for parking by not parking in the first place you see once you arrive to the beach but going further along the road on the back of the beach and negotiating with a restaurant to park for free if you consume...
Read moreWe went in the morning, on our last day. The tide was low so it was nice to swim in. The beach was clean, and the water was warm. It was lovely. We were then approached by a local asking if we would like to go around the islands by his boat, with only 300k rupiah (it was just me and my husband because the other couple didn’t want to). Since it was our last day before our flight at 6pm, we thought why not? The fare was cheap, plus we got to go to nearby beaches of our choice. The boat driver waited for us when he dropped us off at a private beach connecting to Bukit Merese. Boy…it was amazing! The beach has a mix of white and black sand. We even got to hike up the hill! We highly recommend you to keep an open mind, try to explore before quickly saying “no” when a local boat driver offers you the...
