Hidden in the heart of Desa Tomok Parsaoran, the Old Tomb of King Sidabutar is more than just a stone monumentāitās a slice of Batak legend. Carved from a single massive rock, this is the final resting place of King Sidabutar, a revered Batak leader known for his wisdom, leadership, and famously long hair (yes, thatās part of the legend too).
Guarded by stone statues and surrounded by symbols of Batak culture, the site oozes history and calm. Walk slowly, listen to the whispers of the past, and maybe catch a story or two from a local guide. And hereās the fun twistāitās pretty much fated that youāll meet someone named Sidabutar still living in the area. Turns out, the family name lives on (and theyāre usually pretty friendly).
No hats are allowed near the tomb as a sign of respect, so be ready to uncover your head and your curiosity.
