We just had an amazing trip into the Tanjung Puting National park to explore its wildlife and observe some orangutans on the Sekonyer, facilitated by Wow borneo. The boat was excellent, the crew looked after our every need and the food they prepared each day was amazing. We headed up the Seykonyer river to Tanjung Puting National park the largest habitat for these incredible animals. The river got narrower and narrower and the wildlife got thicker and thicker. The rather odd looking but endearing proboscis monkey was plentiful, and then all of a sudden as if he was a sentry to the entry to the park was a large male orangutan perched in the tree. I was enthralled straight away little did i know over the coming days how much better it would get. There are three feeding areas that you can visit where they supplement the food for the rehabilitated orangutans which are a tiny proportion of the population in this last major strong hold for this species. The visiting time was limited to two hours at each site and we sat engrossed by these fascinating creatures for the whole time. The interplay between them, the playfulness, the athletic abilities, the expressions, the maternal instincts and so much character. On a couple of occasions you were reminded of the wildness, the temper and strength of these animals when they were displeased with orangutans encroaching on there territory they would rip branches off and throw them to the ground. Not an animal to be taken lightly. We had the great pleasure of Rusty as our guide who was very generous with his knowledge and enthusiasm for the local wildlife and made this trip very special.

We are blown away by this trip! From the moment we were picked up 3 days ago to being dropped off this afternoon, we have been treated with such love and respect and been made to feel comfortable and cared for throughout. The organisation of the entire staff - led by Ibu Ie, the top notch chefs, Ibu Nur and Ibu Ita and the Captain Enjoy and his deck hand 😁 - was fantastic. They were professional and friendly, made sure we stopped every time there were monkeys around so we could watch them and take photographs, and our trips to the feeding station were informative and fun with Ibu Ie. We saw sĂ© el orangutans in the wild and at the feeding stations. The food and snacks were absolutely delicious! We felt at home and in the way one misses home when they leave, we have a tinge of sadness in our hearts saying goodbye to the lovely staff and our entire experience. If you are thinking of booking this trip, please think no more and just do it. It is worth every penny! Thank you so much!! Love, Sanjana & Tim

We chose the 8-day tour "Orangutan & Nature Tour in Tanjung Puting and Palangkaraya" and are thrilled! In Palangkaraya we were the only tourist boat for miles around. The river is wider and sightings of animals are rarer here than in Tanjung Putin National Park, but the experiences during the sightings are more authentic. The BOS organisation pays attention to the regulations for keeping an appropriate distance from the orangutans, even at the feeding sites. This respect for the orangutans impressed us! The excursions on the small boats were very exciting and we were able to observe and photograph many birds. Culturally, you get to see much more on this tour than on the 2nd part. The crew and the food were fantastic and friendly! The 10-hour car transfer from PALANGKA RAYA to PANGKALAN BUN is not for the faint-hearted! We had an exceptionally good driver, he probably knew almost every pothole on the road. Nevertheless, hundreds of overtaking manoeuvres, potholes, vehicles on the road without lights in the rain and darkness - it was a long 10 hours ;-) We don't need to write much about Tanjang Puting - many others have already done so. This is the hotspot, lots of wonderful animal sightings but also lots of boats and lots of tourists, even in the low season. Our boat was the only boat with a large Photovoltaik system. No generator running all night! Just the sounds of the forest. That should be worth it. Would be great if all boats from wow borneo would change. Would be a good USP to others
Also on this boat: The crew and the food were fantastic and friendly! Thanks,...

Was fĂŒr eine Erfahrung!!
