i went there twice for trekking(2.5 hours and 3.5 hours trip). The guides are locals from nearby village. the first guide was professional, he is friendly and will give you informations about plants etc. the second time, in August 2024, he works there part time only( he only guides when no other works), he didnt proactively provide information like the first guide did. the thing I really dont like is that he spent long times having conversation about relationship life. we came there for lovely and chilling time in the forest, its even better just be quiet. I dont wanna care about other ppl’s love story or should tell them my relationship status. Maybe I will suggest to ask a female guide to avoid this kind of problem. It was not professional at all. I can have some friendly chat but please dont spend whole trip talking this, i didnt pay all money for this!
The 3.5 hour trip has one additional lake / route, i think 2.5 hours is sufficient, nothing you will miss too much. they can also sell entrance ticket without guide, however will suggest to have a guide to make sure...
Read moreThey ask you if you want to do a guided walk for 250k, I politely declined because I was keen on just hiking solo. To be able to do that, they ask you to buy a 100K ticket and tell you it's a 5km round hike across the lake, accessible from the path down the stairs. Relatively expensive in comparison to other things, but I'm fine supporting them. Until I realized it was just walking a bunch of stairs down until the path visibly stops, I definitely looked around but nothing could be found (that wasn't completely overgrown). I walked back up, asking them about it, sadly his answer was 'the path is hidden, that's why you have to book an organized tour'. I suggested them to be open about this from the start, after which he returned to his colleagues and they all started laughing. A bit sad and very atypical in my experience with locals here who are generally lovely and honest. I would not recommend to book anything here. Just go 100m further up and...
Read moreIncredible views of the lake and very much enjoyed the hike. I was a bit skeptical of the paved stairs for the first portion but then the guide showed us through the trails. Guide was very knowledgeable of the nature and types of plants/animals. They are very conscious of taking care of the natural area along with picking up trash along the way. The canoe ride to the last temple was very enjoyable and they let you paddle if you like 😄.
Note this was booked for us through an agency and while we did very much enjoyed the experience, we understand the pricing may be a bit of a tourist trap, especially with lack of instructions for hikers...
