I LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE It's so lively! So kind to citizen. I love it exactly because it's not too big and the street surrounding it is also not to wide, so it's really walkable. Citizens loves playing at it, they love to have picnic, just playing, rolling around the grassy field, jogging around it, enjoying street foods around it, taking photos, sitting around, it's so fun and lively, especially at night. People love to just walk around the park or do morning/night jog here since its comfortable to do so. The pavement are also well maintained and safe for everyone. Childrens are free to play around with safe designated playground area and soft, well maintained grassy field. There are a lot of comfy sitting places to rest, or you can just sit on the floor no problem. The amount of trashcans are also adequate. There are tons of street food stalls surrounding the park incluing : fresh milk, fried chicken, sweet corns, bbqs, meatballs, dimsum, chinese food, beef soup, mini coffeeshops, takoyaki, fried rice, angkringan, and many more. They are super affordable and every single one I tried are tasty. I personally reccommend the fried chicken/duck food truck & chinese food near the phone store. You can park in front of the phone store, the mosque, or find a parking place somewhere between the food stalls. It's easier to bring motorcycle here, of course, but unless its crowded saturday night its easy to find good parking spot.
I can tell the city governments and citizens really love and maintain this place well. It's so clean everywhere, even when there are tons of street food around it. Once I heard voice from megaphone telling street musician and beggars not to enter the park. I've seen smaller cities have really good public alun-alun like this and it's really good. I wish we can keep good public places like...

On the East side there's a memorial with a large statue of General Ahmad Yani (a national hero), a park for sports and recreation and an old blue painted power house.
