Kukup Beach is probably no stranger to the people of Jogja. It’s one of the more popular local spots for a beach getaway.

What makes this beach stand out is a huge coral rock sitting right near the shore. Honestly, it’s so big it almost looks like a two-story house—you could even call it a mini island.

The waves here aren’t too strong, so it’s relatively safe to play near the water. But do be careful—the rocks can get pretty slippery.

Facilities? Pretty complete. There are toilets, showers, and lots of small shops along the path to the beach. If you ever visit, don’t forget to grab some souvenirs from the local stalls—most of them sell delicious seafood-based products.

Oh, and don’t miss the hill right next to the beach! There’s a well-made concrete staircase leading up, and the view from the top is absolutely worth it.

Located at Ngepung, Kemadang, Tanjungsari District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, it's a wonderful beach for family, but not for bathing. The whole family can play on its whitish sand separated by a coral reef barrier from the water and look for a rich variety of small sea animals. There is a coral cliff with an isthmus and a view post on its East end. The West flank is connected to the beautiful Ngrawe Beach. There are many food stalls and shops selling fried shrimps and fishes, simple foods like instant noodles, souvenirs and drinks. This beach is famous for its delicious "kakap" soup. Many clean toilets are available for little money, and a mosque too. Lodging is available around at low to medium rates with humble conditions but they don't have hot water...

Kukup Beach is a beautiful coastal destination in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. It features soft white sand, clear blue water, and unique coral rocks that create natural pools near the shore. The beach is clean and well-maintained, making it perfect for swimming, relaxing, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze.

One of the highlights is a small island connected by a charming bridge, offering stunning views and great photo opportunities. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the gentle waves make it safe for families and children.

With food stalls, rental mats, and nearby parking, Kukup Beach offers both natural beauty and convenience. It’s a great spot for a refreshing beach escape with a touch...
