Pusat Meditasi Vipassana Graha — Attraction in West Java

Personally, i did not expect to experience such a venue with so many Thai feeling just right at the corner of my beloved city. The venue was not hard to reach, exactly next to main road of Kolonel Masturi, reachable from both sides either Cisarua or Lembang.

It's built just couple of years ago, was funded by many devoted buddhism worshipers. It has many types of temples but i trust mainly to serve Theravada Buddhism. We can stay overnight to meditate but need coordination in advance and small fee (i heard was about 50k rupiah per night). It is location for Buddhism School, also office for one of Buddhism magazine publishes in Indonesia. The main hall can be rented even for non Buddhism activities but check directly with the office prior execution.

Myself isn't a Buddhism worshiper yet i enjoyed the peace atmosphere and green surrounding. The place welcomes everyone, make sure to dress properly and wear decent slipper, some of the temple within require us to leave the footwear prior entering, i dont think wearing sneaker will be comfortable (personal opinion). Vihara Vipassana Graha ini terletak di kawasan Parongpong, Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Walaupun tempat ini merupakan tempat bersembahyang bagi Agama Budha, kawasan ini bebas dikunjungi oleh siapapun yang ingin sekedar melihat ataupun berfoto. Bahkan di salah satu sudutnya terdapat sebuah ornamen berbentuk “love” yang dapat digunakan oleh pengunjung sebagai photo booth.

Bangunan Vihara Vipassana Graha ini memiliki nuansa Thailand yang sangat kuat. Selain bentuk bangunannya, terdapat pula dua patung gajah putih yang menjadi julukan negara tersebut, serta bendera Thailand yang menghiasi beberapa sudut bangunan bersama-sama dengan bendera Indonesia. Warna bangunan vihara ini didominasi dengan warna putih dengan sedikit aksen warna emas di bagian-bagian tertentu. Mirip dengan bangunan Nong Nooch Village bila di Thailand.

Di samping bangunan vihara bergaya Thailand, di area sekitar bangunan tersebut ada juga bangunan yang dengan gaya pagoda bertumpuk dan sebuah gapura yang menampilkan kesan Bali yang sangat kental. Lalu ada juga sebuah bangunan yang berisikan 10.000 patung Budha kecil berukuran sekitar 20 cm mengisi hampir seluruh dinding ruangan.

This temple is historical. Make sure you go there with manner. Cannot wear short pants or short dress. You need to cover it with asking to the office.
