Simin and Jalal House Museum is the house of the famous literary couple Simin Daneshvar and Jalal Al Ahmad. This house was opened as a museum in 1397 with a collection of books, personal belongings and manuscripts of these two great contemporary writers. The Simin and Jalal House Museum is a house built brick by brick with love. Before building this house, Simin and Jalal lived in a rented house for two years. Between 1331 and 1332, Simin went to Stanford University in America to study aesthetics. Jalal had bought land in Shemiranat a long time ago and planned to build a house there. Simin's trip was a good opportunity for Jalal to implement his idea and settle there when his wife returned. He himself designed this house after many edits (more than two hundred maps) and consulted an architect during the design. The private house of Simin and Jalal later became a hangout for Iranian literary figures such as Ahmad Shamlou, Nima Yoshij, and a frequenting place for politicians such as Imam Musa Sadr and Ayatollah Taleghani. The core of the Writers' Union was formed in this house, and during the Pahlavi period, the meetings of the Writers' Union were held in this house. Jalal Al Ahmad (1348) and Simin Daneshvar (1390) lived in this house until the end of their lives. This house was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in 2013 by the cultural heritage organization with number 11466. Simin and Jalal's house was turned into a museum in 2017. In 2013, this house was bought by the municipality, but there were legal problems regarding the ownership of the house, and this issue delayed its reopening to the public until 2017. Finally, on May 8, 1397, on Simin Daneshvar's birthday, the Simin and Jalal House Museum was opened. All the furniture and equipment of this house, including books, room and kitchen equipment, and all parts are the same equipment used by Jalal and Simin. Interestingly, there is even a handwriting of Jalal and a basic plan of the house in the house of Simin and Jalal Museum. Also, in this museum, all the works of this couple, including authored and translated books, are stored together. The most important works of Simin Daneshvar in this collection include Suvshun, Wandering Island and Sarban Sarbandar, and the most important works of Jalal Al Ahmad include Westernization and the translation of Madea Zemi by Andre Gide. Other valuable works are kept in this collection, most of which were donated to this collection by Victoria Daneshvar, Simin's sister, on the opening day of the museum. These items include Simin and Jalal's wedding rings, their marriage certificate and Simin Daneshvar's national card. I really there and spent an hour to visit all of the different parts, quite and cozy museum, price of the museum about 5 Toman. Hope to visit here again. Don't doubt...
Read moreI found the house quite quaint and full of character. The house is not very large so don't go in big groups. The house is as it was when these writers lived there so it feels like a well-lived in house. It's like you've popped by to see a neighbour. I liked the garden as well. The house has a touch of sadness or at least I felt so. Although it was welcoming, you feel as though you're intruding and the house misses its owners. I loved looking at the book cases and seeing what books these writers read. There are wax figures (if I'm not mistaken) of Simin, Jalal and Nima Yushij. I would definitely recommend a visit. It's nice to see such a humble home and to know that the occupants were such...
