Attention! This archaeological site is not to be confused with Dún Eochla; as Dún Aonghasa with Dún Duchathair. These are all four different archaeological sites dating from the Iron Age to the Early Middle Ages.

Dùn Eoghanachta is an interesting primitive construction. A large and high circle of stones which, over the centuries, has performed many functions: from defense to pastoralism. It is a pity that the path is not marked and that there is no information. OPW, a...

You need to walk from the visitor centre. The path was rugged terrain and took less than 30 minutes to reach the fort. Magnificent view of wild Atlantic from here. There are no fence along the cliffs, need to be cautious. Good 360° view of Inishmore. The visitor centre has more info displayed, and toilet was clean. The shops here closes around 5pm. After here I went to Kilmurvey beach for a dip. It was nice, exploring...

Loved this place. Much quieter than dun aongusa, and the roads leading to it give a fabulously atmospheric sense of undisturbed ireland. No gift shops, interperative Centre, or entry fee.
