The Clare Glens are absolutely gorgeous. There are two walks signposted. One is a pleasant walk that takes you up the hill, looking down onto the River Clare and it's waterfalls. The other is a far more challenging one taking you through the glen, by the water.
Both are signposted. And both require some fitness and an ability to walk on uneven surfaces and uphill.
There are two pedestrian bridges straddling the river so you can do a figure of eight, a shorter walk or just a loop.
At the bottom of the trails, near the road bridge, you can follow another uneven pathway along by the river where you can see more waterfalls. This too requires a level of agility and ability to walk uphill.
It takes you out to the park in front of the car park.

Read moreThis place is so under rated ...pity is so far away from where I live but I loved it..its hot everything I love..we did the longer trail marked out well with arrows along thr route..lots of different places you cam get in to swim we chose a part that was a bit more private ...lots of slippy stones so "I'd always wear runners or socks in ,makes climbing the rocks ir just walking in that bit easier ). ✅️🐕🦮on a lead ✅️ parking yes & for free two spots across the road before you drove over the small bridge ... where the map is ..FYI take a picture of the route "just in case you miss an arrow easily done" ❌️ no facilties ,toilets Life bouys near the water Kids would love this even the shorter route it's only 30mins ... Read moreI have honestly never made it all the way up to the falls because of my hubby's health issues. But I love the left side of the Clare Glens walk (When looking at the start from the bridge) . The right side is quite an easy walk and very pretty. But the other side is more rustic and takes you right down along the river and on very rustic (and sometimes slippery if its been raining) fully immersed in nature path. I love it here and its free! Getting here can be a pain via Google maps from Limerick so just look up from Birdhill and you will get a far easier road if you are not used to...
