The castle is actually a bit far way. It’s a privately owned castle so there is no direct access to the castle and the land surrounding the castle is privately owned as well, so this is going to be your best bet to see the castle. It’s a decent view of the castle and it’s out buildings. You should come here and have a look. Lots of fresh air to be had as the ocean waves crash on the rocks below. If you’re in the area then come...

Great stop for sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean with the historic Classiebawn Castle perched on the nearby hill. On a beautiful, sunny day, this was a gorgeous waterfront stop. The climb down to the rocky shorefront was fairly easy. Not too many folks during our short visit. Parking was on the street not far away from the viewpoint area. Beautiful!!

Classiebawn, the former home of Earl Mountbatten is private property and cannot be entered, but the walk on the adjacent cliffs is fantastic. We stumbled on the Castle but were so glad to have seen it. While you are there, drive around the coast to Mullaghmore. This was where Earl Mountbatten commenced his fateful voyage on the last day of his life.
