Luke's Bridge is the starting point for the Benbulbin walk, one of the most popular hiking trails in County Sligo, Ireland. The bridge is located at the foot of the mountain and is easily accessible by car or public transport.
The walk itself is challenging but rewarding, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the Atlantic Ocean and the Sligo countryside. The trail is well-marked and maintained, with plenty of opportunities to stop and rest along the way.
Luke's Bridge is also a popular spot for fishing, with the nearby stream providing ample opportunities for anglers. The area around the bridge is peaceful and scenic, making it a great place to relax and take in the natural beauty of the region.
One potential drawback of Luke's Bridge is that it can get quite crowded during peak hiking season, particularly on weekends. Additionally, some sections of the trail can be steep and rocky, so it may not be suitable for inexperienced hikers or those with mobility issues.
Overall, Luke's Bridge is a great starting point for the Benbulbin walk, offering easy access to the trail and a beautiful natural setting. While it can get crowded at times, the stunning views and peaceful surroundings make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring...
Read moreIf possible pick a weekday to go here, and early, as there are limited car spaces. Anyway, whichever route you take, the aim of your climb is the descending stream on the ascent straight ahead. You'll see a path on either side of the stream. We followed the right path because it was the natural route to follow having traversed the bog. Steep enough climb but at the top, follow the path right which will bring you along the ridge to the top of Benbulbin. It's a fantastic walk, it really is, and the views are...

I thought that I would be the only person here since the bridge didn’t seem to be that interesting. The parking is already backed up quite a bit so there was a little walking to get to Luke’s bridge.
