A very welcoming museum, well stocked with local and period items which depict and transport you back in time. The exhibits are displayed in their everyday setting, best of these are those in the street layout with the shop windows bursting with lots of articles forgotten or unknown, taking your mind back in time. On arrival you'll be given an audio handset, this gives you a brief, clear and very interesting piece of information on the exhibits as you walk around. An enjoyable day out, activities for children and refreshments in the cafe.

What a gem! This is one of those places you to out of curiosity and wonder why you haven't been before. Surpasses Bunratty Folk Park in the level of detail, context and supplementary information sources (handset recordings) provided. A lovely little play area and a cafe that serves substantial meals. Well worth a visit and excellent value for money. The railway exhibition is also recommended.

We went here for Santa and the kids loved it, all the elves and helpers were very friendly, there were lots of little spaces and rooms to enter with different activities such as story telling, puppet show and elf class, kids really enjoyed it they are ages 7 and 4.

Sligo Folk Park is a charming open-air museum located in County Sligo, Ireland, that provides visitors with a glimpse into rural Irish life in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The park consists of a collection of restored and reconstructed historic buildings, including traditional thatched cottages, a schoolhouse, a church, and a forge.

Visitors to Sligo Folk Park can explore the various buildings, which are furnished with authentic period pieces and artifacts. They can learn about traditional Irish crafts such as weaving and pottery-making, as well as the history of the region's agricultural and fishing industries.

The park also hosts regular events and demonstrations, including traditional music and dance performances, storytelling, and workshops on traditional crafts and cooking. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional Irish meal at the park's café, which serves locally sourced and homemade food.

Overall, Sligo Folk Park is a wonderful destination for anyone interested in Irish history and culture. Its collection of historic buildings and artifacts, along with its lively events and demonstrations, provide visitors with an immersive and educational experience. Needs more funding from Sligo Co Council to bring it up to a higher standard. It has such potential. The Staff working there are very knowledgeable friendly and have achieved alot with the level of detail and obvious hard work under low budget constraints that they have put into the completed exhibits. Cost of entry is only €5pp. But i couldn't help think that the work required to bring all the other exhibits up to the same high standard as the completed ones, requires a large cash injection from Sligo council. It could be so much more however is definitely worth a stop by for a 1hr/90min walk...
