Berry is an amazing guy! A great tour guide and very kind and care taking person. We were with a group of friends and Berry brought a colleague along to take us on a 3 hour kayaking trip. The weather was great, not too windy and not too cold. We had an amazing view and Berry told us all about the scenery and environment, he shared some personal stories and so we enjoyed as a group as well.
After the break, one of our group members fell into the water, after playing wild with each other, and Berry and his colleague saved him easily without any worries. The dude got wet, but hey.. That's something that happens when you fall into the water.
It wasn't very busy on the waters, but then again, it was just a weekday and we were with friends, and it wasn't super warm and we just had rain the last few days.
Would I recommend Berry and his team for kayaking? Absolutely! I would certainly come back for him and the tour! Well done with the boats, the gear and help...
Read moreI've been out twice with different groups of friends on Lough Gill with Sligo Kayak Tours. Both times the experience was very enjoyable and everyone in the group had a great time. The tour guides are brilliant both from an equipment & safety point of view, but also as guides who can give information about the lake and the surrounding area. They're very open to questions too so feel free to have a chat with them out on the lake.
The tea / coffee and biscuits on Beezie's Island is a really nice touch where you are also given time to explore the island.
The equipment is in great condition and it's the only place I've ever had a splash guard which is great for keeping you dry.
I had some conversations with Barry (the owner) over email and he was always a pleasure to deal with.
Would recommend tours with Sligo Kayak Tours for both locals and tourists. A great few...
Read moreTook a tour in the morning on Lough Gill with Barry as our guide and cannot recommend it enough. We took off across the lake in sea kayaks , which were amazing on such still waters to begin with. Barry was engaging and cheerful, happy to have a chat about anything and kept the group moving along pointing out some lovely scenery and parts of the lake surrounds. After a quick break on one of the islands we took off again into a headwind which was a little bit of a workout but great fun. We skipped past the tail end of a regatta to make it back to the jetty and between the spray decks and dry trousers managed to even stay quite dry (though bring a light rain jacket and a cap along with you).
Simply fantastic if you like to get out on the water or want a relatively simple first...
