“This is the perfect morning,” I whispered to my husband, standing in the forest with our boys, surrounded by tall, moss-covered trees. 🥰
Killiney Hill gave us more than we expected. We had set out looking for nothing more than a walk and a bit of space to move as a family, but the day unfolded slowly and beautifully.
Not far from the base of the trail, we spotted a handwritten sign for ice cream and coffee. One of those small, perfect surprises when you're out with kids. We stopped, got a morning ice cream and coffee, sat for a while, and let the day slow down before we’d even begun walking.
From there, we made our way toward the tree-lined hill. The path opened gradually, with the light shifting as we climbed. At the top, the views widened all at once: the sea, the sky, the city off in the distance. At the apex stood the obelisk. We sat on the rocks there for a long time, just taking it all in.
My older son climbed the pyramid-like structure nearby - confident, happy, determined.
The descent took us through what felt like an enchanted forest. Quiet, cool, damp in the best way. Moss covered the trees and low stone walls lined the path. Everything smelled green. We didn’t rush.
At the end of the trail, we reached the park. It’s simple, natural, and beautifully done. Our kids had the freedom to explore and play, and we weren’t just watching. We were part of it. Sitting. Laughing. Resetting. 🧡
It’s hard to find places that offer this kind of balance: open air, design that feels considered but not staged, and enough ease for both kids and parents to enjoy it in their own ways. This one did...
Read moreDuring my recent trip to Ireland, I visited Killiney Hill Park in County Wicklow, and it was a fantastic experience. The park was located just a short drive from Dublin and provided a peaceful escape from the city.
The park's highlight was undoubtedly the spectacular panoramic views of the Irish coastline and the surrounding countryside. The viewpoint at the top of the hill was simply breathtaking, offering stunning views of the sea and the rolling hills in the distance. I was in awe of the beauty of the scenery and could have stayed there for hours.
The park also offered great walking trails through the beautiful woodlands, which provided a range of different scenery and views. The trails were well-maintained, and the signage made it easy to navigate and explore.
The park's facilities were excellent, with clean and well-maintained toilets, picnic benches, and a well-stocked cafe. The park staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided helpful information on the best routes and points of interest to explore.
Overall, Killiney Hill Park is an excellent location to visit if you're in the Dublin area and want to experience some of the natural beauty that Ireland has to offer. The stunning views and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a relaxing, refreshing day out. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the great outdoors and experience the beauty of...
Read moreWe very much enjoyed walking this area when we went to visit the area during the weekend. The path is very well indicated by different signs and it is easy to walk, even if you are not in a good shape. The views from here are great and in a sunny clear day, you are able to see even the coast areas that are located far away. If you keep on going up the hill there are different walking routes that you can follow, which are marked in the maps. You can also keep on and try to get to an old church not located so far away (maybe 30 min away). The church is not impressive, but it is located in a very beautiful area where normally tourists go to take photos of the views. You can even see the area of Dublin from there if the weather is good, which is impressive. I would totally recommend to go to this area, as it is beautiful and there are many things to do if you decide to go and spend your day here. Perfect plan for a...
