I rate this beach highly for one thing only, it's dog friendly! You get all sorts of dogs, and usually everyone respects every animal and the right to walk alone and not be disturbed. It's very very busy in the summer months as a family beach which is great but then people who only come down 2 times a year with their hand bag dog, get offended that these"other" people have dogs off the lead and think at anytime their pet is going to be attacked; aka come on down Mr dog warden who only comes down when"city" folk are around. I've been part of this community of local dog walkers for 4 years, I own a so called dangerous bred animal who walks freely. We walk the sands daily and have never encountered any violent attack of any kind, so fingal council needs to get their facts straight. I have made great friends and our animals banter reflects that. I've trained dogs for over 6 years in Ireland and more overseas. This is a great free public beach. A great overall dog friendly beach. Just remember if you bought it to the beach, it either goes home with you or in or near the rubbish...

Sunny October Saturday morning, drive to the beach at Donabate, lovely long walk along the beach, and walking in the sea, with the tide in halfway up to our knees. Sitting on the scutch grass chatting and watching loads of folk sitting with family members, some hardy swimming. Wondering why there was so many at the beach, forgetting the corona virus had lots of folk out, as there's no where else to go. A nice cup of coffee outside at the local hotel, sitting at tables looking out to sea. A great way to spend 4 or 5 hours. Highly recommended and will be doing it...

This is a good little beach. There is plenty of parking 2 minutes away just please remember that there are lots of parking traps and holes you can get your car stuck in so don't be so busy looking for a parking spot that you spend then next hour trying to get your car out of a bunker. Then enjoy the beach. Nice sand, and water.

Beach walk was busy with families and their pets out walking today. Some rubbish around, bins over flowing and dog poo on footpath leading to the beach. Instead of having the pre recorded message about keeping the area clean, maybe have cameras photographing litter offenders and their car reg plates and fine them !!
