Ballybunnion Beach is stunning. Towering over it a cliff with a sheer drop and the remains of a castle sitting on its edge, Ballybunnion Castle. It's just 4 walls, but when you walk through it the view on the other side is so beautiful. Looking down across a huge unspoilt stretch of sandy beach. Across from the beach are more cliffs with Caves eroded into the rock face by the sea just waiting to be explored. An enjoyable beach at anytime of the year. The castle is free to look around. Definitely worth a visit, the town is just a short walk away and has plenty of eaterys, places to stay and amusements. I would definitely recommend it as a...

We visited Ballybunion beach and went to the left side of the castle on a recommendation. Its a lovely beach and of course the weather was fantastic. Very visible presence of lifeguards on duty up and down the shore advising which parts of the water were safe to enter. The water was out a good bit when we arrived and came right in towards the soft sand by mid afternoon so nobody's towels were safe. There's a few shops at the top of the hill beside the public restrooms that sell buckets and spades and everything else for the beach. Parking at the top of the hill is five...

Lovely scenic beach area, with paved walking trails down to the beach areas, note the trails are fairly steep, but you can take your time.

Lifeguards on duty and dog friendly beach. Even saw a beautiful cat on a tether sitting by its owner's beach chair. Tower was flying 2 Irish Flags and a Canadian flag, being Canadian this was very special. Town has lots of pretty Irish Pubs and amusements for families. Traffic in the core moved slowly, but smoothly as it circled back out to the highway. Great place to enjoy the day, or evening as most pubs offer live...

It was a beautiful day in Ballybunion, lovely and warm for a stroll on the beach. It was busy that day with market stalls further up the road selling locally made crafts. Ballybunion is very popular, with the world renowned golf course only famous after Bill Clinton visited when he was president. It's also where the talented author Maeve Binchy spent most of her summers growing up. It's a lovely spot to visit.

Irish castle ruins, a landmark in the centre of Ballybunnion. No charge to get to this. A beautiful photo spot, with a great view of the beaches. Nice place to sit, and have a coffee from one of the lovely cafes around or even see if your kids can find some fairy doors .
