Lartigue Monorail and Museum — Attraction in Listowel Municipal District

Listowel monorail is really a unique experience, we spent approx an hour here with our twin toddlers, a bus of American adult tourists were there at the same time who all seemed to enjoy the museum also.

The setting is small and peaceful. Staff really made the experience from start to finish, they were so lovely, friendly and engaging throughout the experience to our toddlers and the whole tour! Our toddlers loved the engagement from staff, getting their tickets punched, watching the simply unique experience of seeing the genius design of the train turning on the rail, getting to wear the drivers hat, signalling the bell, getting on and off the train, and taking pictures of it.

Easily accessible in Listowel, very clean amenities, very reasonably priced for all included. Lovely...

A must for all railway enthusiasts, with the relatively new addition of the museum. One can easily get lost in the history of the long departed age of Steam&The fantastic engines,that enabled Thousands of people to see the stunning North Kerry Coastline plus many memorable places & countryside as trains steamed "Through All Stations" from Tralee-Ballybunion-Limerick & back again.With Videos, Maps,Very Knowledgeable & passionate Curators and loads of memorabilia I was left with mixed emotions between enjoyment (of a really nice experience) & melancholy (for The Railway lost to the tracks of time).Yet the prevailing feeling after my visit is one of pride,in both the railway of the past & the museum presently open to the...

I liked the experience. If you cross Listowel and wondering what to see, it is a nice and interesting place to visit. You can see a video from a 100 years back how the monorail really worked and catered local society. There is some exhibition to walk through but the highlight of the experience is a short ride on the monorail train, it's short but you can watch how the train was rotated and connected back to the carriages. The whole place is run by the volunteers- it gives you insight into strong community engagement. Lovely if you have some spare time. The experience won't be longer than an hour, the cost is also...
